I guess Samuelson is your fav.

I see no reason in hell why Samuelson would make it before Weise. Heck Mabrey would be an upgrade lol. All 4 are sort of 12th mannish. I think weise could really contribute on a different squad. Katie Geralds 2.0

She has a bit more handle than Katie, having played PG in college, but yeah it kinda looks not too far off from that...actually not too different from Stricklen (but again a better handle) so it does depend on team needs.

Wiese has done nothing in 2 years, hit zero shots last season and is not as good a defender or even a glue player Rolling Eyes Agler didn't even play Wiese when we only had 8 players at the beginning of last season when we beat the Lynx and went 2 of 3 without our star players, only Nneka Laughing

So they go with 6 posts and 5 guards. No true SF. 10 start with Parker injured. 5 guards will be Gray, Beard, Williams, Jones & Samuelson.

Beard started at the three for the Sparks most of last season

And Ruffin-Pratt's about as true a 3 as you could ask for.

The 6 posts makes no sense for the team or even for the individuals involved, makes you wonder what s up and whether they are trying to get future picks as they gave up theirs for Chiney and didn’t need her. Parker will end up playing to score around the basket so why sit all those posts when they need others to spread the floor for spacing.

Who knows what Fisher has planned, but my vision when Parker comes back is to slot her as the offensive starting SF, while Nneka handles the defensive duties at SF.

But if they do well without Parker, who knows what will happen.

Sparks should really trade Vadeeva or Brown. Nobody likely wants Lavender and her bloated salary. If one of LA's guards gets hurt, Sparks could be in trouble.

If Ruffin-Pratt can be released, I'd keep Mabrey over her. I think Samuelson is out now. Sucks they re-signed Williams as I'd have Walker & Wiese on the roster instead so they'd have 12.

PG: Gray/Jones
SG: Beard/Mabrey/Wiese
SF: Parker/Walker
PF: Nneka/Vadeeva
C: Chiney/Lavender/Brown

But more than likely they'll end up with:

PG: Gray/Jones
SG: Beard/Williams
SF: Parker/Ruffin-Pratt
PF: Nneka/Vadeeva
C: Chiney/Lavender/Brown

Not sure what to make of Ashley Walker. Keeping her would be like adding an import rental. She’s on the Romanian national team and she’s 32 years old. She’s played in the WNBA in 2009, 2010, and 2013; all very uneventful. Never shot better than the 20’s in %. Doing well overseas but not at Euroleague level.

From 8/2018:
Quote:
Mersin Buyuksehir Belediye (KBSL) agreed terms with 31-year old Romanian international power forward Ashley Walker (187-91kg-87, college: California). She is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Walker has played for the last two seasons at Reyer Venezia Mestre in Italian Serie A1. In 21 games she had 10.6ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.0apg and 2.0spg last season. She helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Walker also played 16 games in Eurocup where she recorded 9.7ppg, 5.2rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg (in top 2).
In 2009 Walker was drafted by Seattle Storm (WNBA) in first round (12th overall).
She attended University of California and it will be her tenth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Walker won Italian A1 championship title in 2016. She was also voted Eurobasket.com Italian A1 All-Imports Team in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
Walker represented Romania at the Qualifications to European Championships 2017 two years ago. Her stats at that event were 2 games: 12.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.0apg, 2.0spg, 1.5bpg.
Walker is quite experienced player. She has played also professionally in Israel (Maccabi Ramat Gan, Maccabi Ashdod and Elitzur Ramla), Ukraine (Dynamo-NPU Kyiv), WNBA (Connecticut Sun and S.Antonio SS), Italy (Familia Schio and Ragusa), Turkey (Ceyhan Bld) and Romania (CSM Targoviste).

I don't see Vadeeva in the Sparks training camp pictures. It appears they have a 3rd assistant coach who didn't make the roster. Maybe they are still coming up with the "non-assistant coach" title.

She is there and played substantial minutes in yesterday's preseason game

No official announcement yet, but Dillard’s been cut.

Darn i thought she had a chance. She was a crafty player in college. Losing a few pds to gain footspeed could really help her game.

I think she hurt her chances arriving so late at Minnesota. Should have gotten there a week earlier like most of the others.

I understand the need to trade Lavender, but too bad we couldn't get back a serviceable wing or anything better than a second round pick.

Gray/Jones
Beard/Williams
Parker/TRP
N. Ogwumike/Vadeeva
C. Ogwumike/Brown

Up for grabs: Samuelson, Wiese, Mabrey. Hmm.

Cheyenne Parker and Astou N'Dour, assuming Astou is coming over...

Now they may be able to take on Mitchell’s salary. I’m still pushing the notion of PHX unloading an expensive contract in order to keep more of their bargain cheap players.

Mitchell for CHI’s second round pick?

Knew it was bound to happen, but sad to see her go. Best of luck in Chicago, JLav.

wouldn't you include Walker in that grab bag? She has been pretty stellar in preseason.

I hate this season of waivers! I want them all to make the team.

With them dumping Lavender, can the Sparks carry twelve now?
