Interesting that the league leader in steals is MIA from both lists

Do you know how many times has that happened in the past?

It’s interesting that Odyssey Sims led the league in defensive rating among active players with over 25 mpg. There’s a big team component to def rating. That’s why you see a lot of ATL players clustered together, but Sims stood out from her teammates.

The league steals leader missed the All Defense teams in 2012 (Angel McCoughtry) and 2016 (Sancho Lyttle). Lyttle also received no DPOY votes, the first time that had happened to the league steals leader.

I'm very surprised Diamond DeShields didn't get a vote....But I guess there's only so many votes to go around.

The Sky being the worst defensive team in the league probably worked against her

Dissapointed Breland only got 2 votes. Seems pretty lazy to me .

+1 and why the hell is Rebekkah Brunson on the list ? Are they still living in the golden years ? DD definitely should have been on this list. Fowles comes in 2nd place in DPOY votes but gets put on 2nd team behind Natasha Howard as well ? WTF Shocked

Worst by some distance, too.

Would really like to see the defensive specialists get a bit more credit on the All-Defense teams. No Clark, no Thornton etc. These players get the toughest assignments night in and night out for a reason.

OK, so DPOY is writers/broadcasters and All-Defensive Team is coaches. That explains the disparity.

Yeah i really think that Clark deserved to be atleast on the all defensive 2nd team this season. Snubbed big time. Better then Nneka, Brunson and Atkins

2012 was the year that McCoughtry had the blow-up with Meadors, and then McCoughtry got stripped of her captain status, and then Meadors got fired, right? IIRC, she got completely shut out from any post-season awards that year; snubbed because the voters held a grudge.

She did lead the league in Per40 steals, and it wasn’t even very close. Not too bad for a rookie.
