Not sure if my busy work day has fried my brain or if I'm just missing something. Plus, this is just the AP Awards, not the league awards.

Missing something , The best comeback player in this league is an MVP candidate who wont win , so she will not receive any awards besides 1st team most likely . And i guess ill give the W offices a break "For NOW" .

The WNBA office doesn't determine the winner of any end of season awards, and usually comeback player goes to play who missed time due to injury (or in the WNBA childbirth too) reasons only.

Maybe you can only miss one season in between to get it.

Also, DB’s play after having twins is more impressive than Liz just feeling like showing up.

They got first team right. Glad to see Tiff get some credit.

Congrats to the legend on her 13th selection (9th for first team) and all of the ladies.

You're not generally considered a 'comeback' player when you just couldn't be arsed to show up for five years.

Besides Liz got first team All WNBA over Fowles and Griner. That's some pretty serious recognition.

Nikki Collen as coy? Dan Hughes should have gotten that one. She didn’t take a losing team to #1 in the league in less then a season.

ATL had a worse record than Seattle last year. Cooper gave away the lottery pick that became DeShields.

On paper SEA looks like a way better roster with those two fresh #1 picks and one old one.... plus that player that Reeve didn’t think was worthy of max.

She also didn't take over a playoff team with a ton of established talent. Collen had to remake the Dream lineup, switching three of the five starters. All Hughes had to do was add replace one post player.

Hughes didn't gain an extra star player for free.

True, he had to give up a second round pick

Not to mention that it’s Collen’s first year as a head coach and Hughes has about 18 years of experience in that role.

All Seattle gave up was missing out on the chance to draft Mercedes Russell, all because basically Reeve wanted Tanisha Wright and expected Howard to pay for it (by taking a pay cut). 🤢

According to Basketball-Reference's modified Pythagorean W-L, Seattle's expected record would be 24-10, two games worse than where they actually finished up. Atlanta's was 19-15, four games worse. I'm willing to guess that coaching probably made the difference in at least a couple of those.

Don't worry - you will get a do-over when the WNBA awards voting takes place.

The voting would've already taken place for the WNBA Awards, but they wait for home games of the team of the winner(s) to announce them (or for the awards won by non-playoff participants, whenever they please).

Because Williams, Hayes, Breland, Sykes, Clarendon, Bentley, Montgomery, and a returning McCoughtry are just dead damn weight huh? Laughing

We didn't have Breland, Bentley, or Montgomery when she took over, and McCoughtry's return was uncertain.
