That explains the mystery surrounding their PG situation. Seems like they’ve known for a while.

If there isn't a trade who is the last cut?
I have
Plum/Jefferson
McBride/Rodgers
Young/Young
Wilson/Harrison/Hamby
Swords/Bone
and either Nared or Park with Chong as a huge long shot.

I am not saying she is better but I believe she has a guaranteed contract. Which means she can't be waives without paying her

But Bone's contract is guaranteed. So even if they cut her, she still would get paid.

I actually think Park will get the last spot but it makes them a little post heavy unless they try to move Hamby more to the SF spot.

I wouldn't be hugely surprised if they just swallowed Bone's contract and cut her. I doubt Park's going anywhere after the work they put into her last year and the development they'll still be hoping to see from her. She's 20.
Nared's pretty easily cuttable as well, though. |

Inconceivable that they would sign a player like Bone to a guaranteed contract, unless it's to undermarket price.

Park has huge upside and in bills system is a great fit
They cut her over bonehead (provided shes showed up Healthy etc) some other team gonna be real happy

https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/basketball/aces-wnba/aces-no-1-pick-jackie-young-works-into-role-as-lead-guard-1656839/
Usually these preseason WNBA articles are full of useless info, quite often about players who will have no effect on team success, but this LV Aces one seems to provide some interesting stuff. Plum will no longer be a point guard, and that role will go to top draft pick Young. This is a player who has had very little preparation to lead a WNBA team at the point. Remember also that Young is a shaky outside shooter, and has not exhibited any special court sense or passing ability. Guess we will see how this goes, but, perhaps of more note, is the lack of mention of Jefferson. Wonder if she is on the trading block. I can think of a couple of teams (Dallas; LA) that would love to have her.

That is surprising. Maybe he saw Young playing PG for ND and has always preferred a bigger lead guard, you know, like Katie Smith.
Jefferson for Brown might be a trade that would work well for both teams.

It's really hilarious. Bill's big lead guard obsession. I thought the Aces would be more competitive this year, but if this is true, I expect them to be back in the lottery again next year.

Jefferson, Park, and next year’s 2nd round pick for Cambage?
Point out to Cambage that Vegas is close to LA. Then Vegas beats up on the Sparks.
If Cambage commits long term, maybe Laimbeer would go with a first round pick instead of second.
JYoung/Plum
McBride/Rodgers/Nared
TYoung/Hamby
Wilson/Harrison
Cambage/Swords/Bone

Young at lead guard really isn't that big of a deal.
The 1 the 2 and the 3 will probably be J. Young, Plum and McBride. Young can bring the ball up and initiate the offense, kind of what she was doing at ND for the 2nd half of the season, Plum can set up as more of a perimeter SG but still do some slashing and passing as well, McBride continues to do what she has always done, and then on defense plum guards the 1, McBride the 2 and Young the 3. I don't think it will be that big of a change in role for anyone.

I completely agree. I think she’ll be fine as the ‘1’ on offense and ‘3’ on defense playing with Plum and McBride. Since she’s more of a slasher it makes sense to have her initiate offense and drive and kick. And if other teams try to defend with their point guard, Jackie will be able to post them up no problem. If she struggles, it’s not much of an issue because Plum will be there to assist with ball handling.
I’m excited for the Aces! It would be cool to see them make playoffs after being so close last season.

Sounds good on paper but color me skeptical. Getting a few minutes as pg in the NCAA's, playing mostly inferior talent is no preparation for the WNBA lead guard spot. Yes, future HOF'ers like Bird and Whalen jumped right in, but history has shown that even guards with heavy pg college experience (think Sloot, Chelsea Gray, and Diggy) struggle early.
