According to a source present for the back-and-forth, Williams and Bibb had to be restrained by other Wings staffers, and Williams was screaming obscenities.

I just hope Skylar doesn't demand a trade or signs with another team after the 2019 season.

This could be one of those be careful what you wish for situations. Liz and Skylar may be big fans of Fred. May be the only reason he has lasted this long.

Good riddance Fred. And I doubt Diggins or Liz will demand trades. They’d rather win with a better coach next season than leave.

Just never seems like a great idea to get into a physical altercation with one's boss. Smile

Let them get that 8th spot and i still think they can do some damage in playoffs AND get a decent draftpick. Im glad that the storm dont have to face them in 1 game elimination. I think they have a chance against the Sun

This just appeared on the Wings web page of all places. Taj is Interim coach.

Quote:
“Following today’s game, I made the decision to change direction in regards to our head coaching position,” stated President and CEO Greg Bibb. “I felt this move was necessary. The season has not met our expectations. I have asked Taj to serve as our interim head coach and I have the upmost confidence that she and our staff will do everything possible to put us in the best position to win. I wish Fred the best moving forward. Our focus remains on qualifying for the playoffs and ultimately competing for a WNBA championship.”

I agree...However,winning two road games against Minn,LA,Phoe and Conn will be a tough task.

Good luck to Taj!

Hopefully she makes some noise in the playoffs (just not against the Merc or Storm).

With a week left and someone who's been on the bench all season taking over? Not much of one. But if Diggins-Smith and Cambage are actually healthy and they can sneak in, they could scare anyone in a one-game playoff.

Question, when a coach is fired on the spot with no warning does he still get paid for however long his contract was. Just wondering.

He didn't quit so I believe he gets paid the rest of his contract unless there's a clause in the contract he's hired as a WNBA Head Coach somewhere else. The Wings will probably go the cheap Head Coaching route for awhile until they finish paying off Fred Williams contract

Hopefully Mama Taj can win a game for them & get them into the playoffs. That game vs. Vegas on Friday is looking very crucial.

I think we should cut Fred Williams some slack, it's not completely his fault for the Wings 8 game losing streak, during the losing streak the Wings has missed either Liz or Skylar out of the line-up because of injuries.

I think with all the drama over LV having to forfeit the game, Dallas just decided to show them up and said "Hold my beer, watch this!"

I'm guessing this had been simmering for a while and finally came to a boil. Not sure if it had to do with the Cambage and Diggins-Smith injuries or something else.

And while it is true that Fred was not responsible for getting hurt, he is responsible for the rotations on the floor while they are out.
