Colorado went on a 24-0 first half run en route to a 50-18 half time lead over Pacific and a final score of 84-57. The Buffs had concentrated on defense in practice recently and the results showed as they played with more intensity and smarts when defending. Offensively they were able to get scoring from a variety of players other than Jackie McFarland – who came into the game as one of the leading scorers in the country.

It was Pacific that came out with enthusiasm in the second half as they went on a 9-0 run. However, the Buffs were able to restore order when they began to get the ball to McFarland who wound up scoring 18 of her game high 26 points in the second half.

Colorado has an 11 day break for finals before heading to Puerto Rico for the San Juan Shootout where they will face Northern Arizona, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and South Florida on consecutive nights.

First, let's acknowledge what everyone already knows - Pacific is a team with issues.

That said, the Buffs of the first half, had they played that way all season, would be 7-0 (which they should be at this point) instead of 3-4. On the other hand, the Buffs of the second half of last night's game are the reason they've dropped four games they should have won.

McFarland, who leads the Big 12 in scoring, is just a gem and a true leader, something one doesn't see often in a sophomore.

Jasmina Ilic, who seems to have shook her early season mini slump, added 20 points last night and is now averaging 17 points per game.

But I felt the unsung her last night was point guard Whitney Law, who chipped in 10 points to go with her five assists - but it's her intensity on the floor that I really like. If every player on the Buffs roster worked as hard as Law ... well, it would be nice.
