AOC has drawn a 2020 challenger, 38 year old Scherie Murray -- a black, female, Republican who is an immigrant from Jamaica.

Quote:
"There is a crisis in Queens, and it’s called AOC." Murray went on to say, "Instead of focusing on us, she’s focusing on being famous. Mainly rolling back progress and authoring the job-killing Green New Deal and killing the Amazon-New York deal."

Here's her first campaign ad:

I guess Trump will have to wait until after she loses to AOC to tell her to go back to where she came from. Until then, he can use her to make it look like he’s not really racist and hope it doesn’t upset his racist base too much. Pretty transparent, huh?

Quote:

A crisis? Back when AOC won the primary, she said Queens was headed in the new direction. I guess that was before she realized how effective AOC would be representing the people. This is already making her look stupid, so nice start for her.

This is confusing because being one of the few congresspeople doing her job and focusing on people who are underrepresented in congress is precisely how she got famous. Who is this person that is not beholden to special interests? It’s so not like a politician to hold the interest of their constituents above their own.

Quote:

Left out the part about the better new jobs created. That’s what progress does. Are the republicans still tearing up over the demise of the pony express? Time to do away with coal once and for all. I don’t see how Trump could be remotely associated with the word “progress”. Is that what he’s doing for women’s rights and the environment? Progress?

Quote:
killing the Amazon-New York deal."

AOC had nothing to do with that, but heaven forbid she had an opinion on it. Looks like she was right, as usual.

AOC smartened up and got rid of her COS and Comm director. Good for her. She’s too much of a rising star and has too much potential to let them leech off of her and ruin it.

AOC says ‘badass’ millennials are the true Greatest Generation

Quote:
The 29-year-old Queens-Bronx Democrat stroked the egos of both her fellow millennials and the subsequent Gen Z in her latest Instagram live video, claiming that young people are more “informed” and “willing to go to the streets” in protest than earlier generations.

“I think they’re badass,” said Ocasio-Cortez of young people in the clip, a copy of which was tweeted by conservative political voice Caleb Hull. “I think young people are more informed and dynamic than their predecessors.

“I think they’re profoundly courageous, because they’re willing to puncture more taboos and have conversations that, frankly, older generations sometimes struggle to have,” said AOC.

Immediately after saying that she didn’t “want to paint everybody with a broad brush,” AOC did just that, acting as though young people pioneered the concept of political activism — and apparently forgetting the Vietnam War protests and push for racial equality of the 1960s — let alone the WWII generation that saved the world from authoritarian rule and dubbed by former “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brokaw in his 1998 book, “The Greatest Generation.”

“I think this new generation is very profound and very strong and very brave, because they’re actually willing to go to the streets,” she said. “How ’bout that?

Guess its a wonderful thing that kids who IG during Civil Rights were able to bring forth so much change! Wow! Thank you so much Twitter for allowing my Grandparents to walk into a building and have lunch at the counter! She means well but she better start thinking before she speaks.

Quote:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who proposed “Green New Deal” climate change legislation, warned that melting glaciers could release ancient diseases that the modern world is incapable of handling.

The first-term Democrat from New York said she woke up while on vacation at 3:30 in the morning worried about the consequences of climate change.

“I’m 29 years old, I really struggle sometimes with the idea of how to be a policymaker, and potentially have a family in the time of climate change,” she said on Instagram live Tuesday, listing a number of impending environmental catastrophes like melting glaciers and rising sea levels.

“Scientists fear that there’s a potential that a lot of diseases could escape these melted glaciers, things that were frozen for thousands of years, and that they’re going to get into our water, and that humans could contract them, and they are going to be diseases that are thousands of years old that have vectors that we are not prepared for, that we have never seen,” she said.

Ocasio-Cortez continued that even if primeval diseases aren’t unleashed, the effects of climate change would extend the range of mosquitoes.

“Now mosquitoes are starting to fly further north that carry diseases like malaria, and a whole slew of other things,” she said.

Ocasio-Cortez also said increasing sea levels would be devastating.

“And by the way, sea level rise is probably one of the most expensive parts about climate change,” she said. “You think overhauling our economy to decarbonize and saving the planet is going to be expensive? Try not decarbonizing our economy and allowing sea level to rise, every coastal city to go underwater, every Midwestern city or large swaths in the middle of the country experiencing drought on level that we have not seen, that’s going to be way more expensive.”

And what would that be?

Referring to an adult woman, a sitting Congresswoman nonetheless, as a "girl", is insanely patronizing. It is typically indicative of severe gender bias.

Props to anyone who is still able to laugh at this point.
It's really quite depressing, but there is humour to be found even in terrible circumstances. I added my like to the 400k others.

Ahhh....AOC. She is a goddess in her own right, but especially in contrast to the Orange Con. Cool

"Whack Job". "Crooked Hillary". "Lyin' Ted". It was apparent so early in his political career that his most consistent strategy is to label all opponents to be what he knows he is and fears will be uncovered about him. He's like the fattest kid on the playground, who calls everybody "Fatty".

Whack job. Crooked. Lyin'. We hear ya, bubby.

Ocasio-Cortez to endorse Sanders for president
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/466007-ocasio-cortez-to-endorse-sanders-for-president-report

Quote:
Sanders, who has been struggling to keep pace in the polls with former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), had announced during Tuesday night's Democratic debate in Ohio that a special guest would join him at a rally in the New York City borough of Queens on Saturday.

Ocasio-Cortez, who was a volunteer organizer for Sanders's 2016 presidential campaign, has been one of the most influential figures among progressives since she defeated former Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) in a 2018 primary.

Her endorsement could deal a blow to Warren, who is competing with Sanders for the liberal wing of the party's base.

No surprise here.

No, no surprise. I hope that this doesn't come back to bite her in the ass.
I'm not sure Grandpa Bernie is the one to get behind.

I also heard on the news tonight that Omar and Talib are endorsing Bernie.
