| Being in the hunt for league MVP is irrelevant....Alyssa is Connecticut's MVP....A.Thomas was top 20 in pts,reb,asst,stl,and blks before the shoulder injury started to take it's toll............And let's keep it 100....people don't consider AT a legit MVP candidate because she has a low scoring avg.

And that's exactly why I can't consider them a real title contender, even when healthy.

Connecticut's a unique basketball team...Alyssa is the MVP,but Ogwumike,JT,CW,and JJ are all better offensive scoring options.This is what makes Connecticut so tough when they're at full strength.If the defense is focused on containing 2 players,2 or 3 other players can kill you......That being said....Thomas being out isn't a good enough excuse for the Sun's recent struggles.I believe the biggest reason for Connecticut's decline has been the regression of J.Jones...JJ went from 15p/12r/53%/44%/82% last season to 8p/5r/48%/31%/71% this season...Best player to the 5th best player.
JJ last 5 gms w/o Thomas-4.6p/4.8r/36%/4%/75% in 17.4mpg

| I think the decline of J Jones is the real untold story. My only guess is she just doesn't like the new regime with Chiney back - maybe she wants a change of address.
