How did you assign the players? Candace Parker was born in MO, grew up in a Chicago suburb, went to college in Tenn, and is on the Dallas Wings? And why is the Sun loaded with MD players? Etc.

I at least one international player. And I assigned the American players based on what high school they went to

Since you consider WI to be of the MIN Region, we’ll take the WI players (who don’t even have WNBA roster spots) from Tulsa. Also would like Zahui since she went to college in Minnesota.

Then the Ogwumike sisters should be playing in a revived Houston Comets team, instead of Las Vegas.

And the Tulsa twist is all twisted! Diggins? Faris? Loyd?

Still a fun exercise and a nice effort.

23 teams. Add in a team from Tennessee and the league could divide into four divisions

ATLANTIC
Connecticut Sun
New York Liberty
Washington Mystics
Orlando Miracle
Miami Sol
Charlotte Sting

CENTRAL
Atlanta Dream
Cleveland Rockers
Detroit Shock
Chicago Sky
Indiana Fever
Tennessee BC

MIDWEST
Minnesota Lynx
Tulsa Twisters
San Antonio Stars
Houston Comets
Dallas Wings
Utah Starzz

PACIFIC
Phoenix Mercury
Los Angeles Sparks
Las Vegas Aces
Sacramento Monarchs
Seattle Storm
Portland Fire

The term “Midwestern” has always been used to describe a northern tier of states, and yet you have 5 out of 6 teams from the south in it.

You should swap ATL and MIN and relabel them the Southern.

It's a pipe dream for 24 teams. Realistically, I only see the league maxing out at 20 teams even by it's 50 anniversary. We keep the current 12, add in former cities of Houston, Portland, Cleveland & Sacramento and new cities of San Francisco, Nashville, Kansas City & Boston. Liberty move to Brooklyn

ATLANTIC
Atlanta Dream
Boston
Brooklyn Liberty
Connecticut Sun
Washington Mystics

CENTRAL
Cleveland Rockers
Indiana Fever
Chicago Sky
Nashville
Minnesota Lynx

SOUTHWEST
Kansas City
Dallas Wings
Houston Comets
Las Vegas Aces
Phoenix Mercury

PACIFIC
Los Angeles Sparks
Seattle Storm
Portland Fire
Sacramento Monarchs
Golden State

I understand you have to have some leeway to make it work, but you KML who went to MD in Southern Cal in Sacamento while putting Gemelos who went to high school about 45 miles from Sac 350 miles south to the Sparks. Boyd was about 50 miles from Sac and Chelsea Gray who when to the same high school as Gemelos was also very close.. You have a lot of Southern Cal gals in Nor Cal. When they would be as close in Arizona.

Taurasi went to HS closer to Phoenix than Sacramento and closer to the Sparks than either.

But it is fun to see what it would look like if done this way.

After the first two, I don't get it. The Chicago Sky are mostly from Ohio and Wisconsin, while the Dallas Wings are mostly from Illinois. The Cleveland Rockers are from NY and NJ. The Connecticut Sun are mostly from Maryland. Either this is something cool and youthful that I don't understand or someone is badly in need of a geography lesson. Shocked

I appreciate the work and dedication put into this idea but it needs to be reconfigured badly .

Good thing the WNBA never adopted the "territorial pick rule" for their Draft, as the NBA did during the late-1940's until the mid-1960's. Although that never stopped some teams (most notably, the Lynx) from drafting and/or signing hometown players.
