After making the Sweet 16 this year, Buffalo WBB coach Felisha Legette-Jack inks a new five-year contract, running through the 2022-23 season.

As you may recall, Legette-Jack was an assistant coach for Joanne P. McCallie at Michigan State for two seasons before FLJ took the head job at Hofstra. She then took over the program at Indiana, but, after three good seasons, bombed out in her last three.

But FLJ resurrected her coaching career after taking over at Buffalo. Under Legette-Jack's guidance, the Bulls are the only team in the MAC to win 19+ games in each of the last four seasons. And this year, she took her squad to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.

More links and details:

Buffalo head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's new five-year contract, announced yesterday, includes a 50% increase in her annual base salary, from $160,000 to $240,000.

Good for her. This is the reason why I want successful assistant coaches to go after head coaching jobs. The only way that these women are going to get paid is to find head coaching jobs at the college or pro level.

But is also a tale of someone who was a head coach at a P5 school and was fired (after three good seasons at Indiana, she bombed out in her last three), yet managed to resurrect her career at a non-P5 school and find tremendous success.

She probably made a ton of money by going to Indiana, even if it didn't work out, compared to if she just stayed as an assistant. So even with getting fired its probably worth the jump.
