As of the national anthem, I'm one of 305 people in the world watching this game. Who says female BB isn't popular?

I’m seeing 3106 for a U17 game over YouTube on a Friday morning. Not too shabby.

Spain provided the best defense the USA has seen so far, but the USA still won easily, 66-31.

While close in some cases, it seems to me that the depth chart so far has been:

C - Boston, Belibi, Brink
F - Jones, Horston, Taylor, Brunelle
G - Fudd, Bueckers, Cooke, Van Lith, Osborne

The other quarterfinal in the same bracket finished Hungary 74 Japan 62.

On the other side of the bracket, Australia beat Italy 64-46 and France beat Latvia 67-43.

In the consolation bracket, China beat Angola 97-41 and Mali beat Argentina 63-48. Colombia lost to Canada 71-51, but South Florida has to be happy to have had Maria Alvarez commit to them already. New Zealand beat Belarus 73-59.

Bracket:

Semifinals:
France vs Australia
Hungary vs United States

5th Place:
Latvia vs Italy
Japan vs Spain

9th Place:
Mali vs New Zealand
China vs Canada

13th Place:
Argentina vs Belarus
Angola vs Colombia

The USA game is at 1:30pm ET on Saturday and will be on ESPN+. It may or may not be on or blacked out on livebasketball.tv in this country (I was able to watch the semifinal but not the final on the boys' side).

That’s a massive win for Mali, to beat a team that held its own up to that point with a victory over Spain. Definitely an eye opener....

I’m rooting for them against the Ferns.

Good to see Mali waltz away with a win over New Zealand.

France was down by 15 at half time, yet they shocked Australia by ten points to knock out the defending champs. United States will hopefully be shocked by Hungary to set up a great final.

USA-France will be at 1:30pm ET on Sunday and will be on ESPN+ in the United States. It was an 84-39 final against Hungary:

Final Day Schedule:
1st: France vs United States
3rd: Australia vs Hungary
5th: Italy vs Spain
7th: Latvia vs Japan
9th: Mali vs Canada
11th: New Zealand vs China
13th: Argentina vs Colombia
15th: Belarus vs Angola

I missed one high schooler as Anaia Hoard already followed her brother Jaylen to Wesleyan Christian Academy in North Carolina. He will be a freshman at Wake Forest while she is going to be a senior. Their mother is French and they have spent most of their lives there, but their father is American and both parents were pro players.

Here is a condensed (made baskets only) video of the USA v. France final. I particularly like Bueckers' passing magic.

Jordan Horston is a super athlete, hereby dubbed a "kangazelle". With her hops she jumps center instead of the taller Boston, who, for all her other impressive skills, doesn't have much vertical leap. Horston runs, steals, runs, layups, runs, assists, runs, hits medium and long jumpers. And runs.

Other countries are already getting ready for the 2020 version. Chile, Ecuador, and Brazil took the top 3 spots in the U15 South American Championship, entitling them to spots in next year's U16 Americas Championship.
