Yes the injuries are terrible but let’s also point out her high profile transfer from Nebraska (who didn’t have to sit out a year)! That helped.

One player does not equal four, no matter which way you try to configure it. Your math is way, way off.

N Dame has played 7 this year. UConn has played 7. Other than the fact that one coach had no choice while the other had no worthy players they both got to the final four with a short bench. The key for both is that the players they have are outstanding.

I'm sure that D1 is filled with programs who would have been thrilled to swap rosters with McGraw this year.

Notre Dame's situation is not comparable to UConn's. I have no idea why you keep bringing this argument up. Geno has chosen to go with a 7-person rotation (as he always does this time of year). Muffet also tightens her bench in the NCAA's, but these are not the 7 she would want. Huge difference. The only scholarship bench players left for Notre Dame were expected to be deep bench players this year (Nelson and Patterson). Vaughn was outplaying Nelson, and Patterson would definitely not be seeing the floor yet. Turner would be in the rotation, as would Lili Thompson. Without Lili, Mychal would have seen a lot of minutes in the regular season and who knows what her growth would have been. At a minimum, she would have provided a modicum of depth, as Notre Dame has NO guards on the bench except for walk-ons. Notre Dame played a walk-on in the first quarter of the second round of the NCAA's because of foul trouble, the injury to Kat Westbeld, and the ineffectiveness of Patterson. Can you imagine Geno having to play Pulido or Lawlor in the first quarter of an NCAA game that is competitive?

Geno's 2 bench players are Azure Stevens and Megan Walker. How does that compare to Danielle Patterson and Koko Nelson? Notre Dame has to play soft defense in the first half of games because if there is foul trouble, the Irish are sunk. UConn doesn't have that worry. I believe that you knew all these facts, but chose to ignore them as you posted an argument you knew was flawed.

Blah Blah Blah. You can only put 5 on the court and N Dame's 5 is one of the best in the country. You sound like Biebel with his W/L stats that dance around the glaring fact that UConn has won the last 7 and that in most of the recent ones the Irish's lack of conditioning was more of a factor than any talent discrepancy. Maybe if Shepard lost 30 lbs of flab she could go hard for 40.

All I said was that it's 7 on 7. I agree that UConn's 7 is superior in many ways but the crying from S Bend hasn't been about the talent discrepancy but the shortage of bodies.

Bottom line, UConn and N Dame will play the same number of bodies. (And UConn may only play 6) I think the Irish have more than enough talent to win tonight. Let's see which 7 plays better.

How is that math? I’m not saying 1 for 4. The kid (All american talent) was instantly eligible. It’s a fact. It helped.

Yeah, it helped. It didn't do it all. It was ONE cog in the machine. That's all. Done deal. Quit whining. There'll be others next year too.
