I hope Canada can play Russia close...All other games should be blowouts. GB may give Australia a fight, though.

Really nervous-looking start by the Czechs in game 1.

Very loose with the ball. China anticipating well. I'm getting a huge kick out of the crowd reactions...

Czechs going to a 1-2-2 really seems to have flummoxed China for the moment. That and not handing the ball over on two of every three possessions...

ETA: And just like that, China figures out where the open spots are for a pair of three-pointers...

In the first half China seems to be hitting shots at the right time, both teams are sloppy, but start with a big run early in the game, enough to give them a 4 point cushion at the end of the first and in the 2nd they hit shots after Czech tied it, not allowing them to get the lead, and they go into half time with a 7 point lead, 36-29.

Major issue for China with Chen Nan getting her fourth foul so early in the third quarter. Good move by Blazek, I think, in getting Elhotova and Bartonova into the game right away this half. Czechs have been having a hard time keeping pace with their bigger lineup...

China stays composed and holds on to win 66-57.

Czechs just with too many lapses and silly plays. Disappointing game from them.

I am too, but mine is kind of lagging

Had to restart Chrome three times in the second half. Can only hope NBC and/or YouTube get things sorted out...

As to the game:

Vesela underwhelmed yet again. Czechs just seemed behind the play all day, allowing China far too many transition chances, especially off missed three-pointers that are their lifeblood...

Ma looked really good in her Olympic debut. China is working with a seriously short rotation, and I wonder how they'll be holding up by next weekend. They could definitely use Bian...

Haha... still worth listening in, though. She might pick up a word/phrase or two she recognises, such as please, thank you, good morning, Saturday, can you tell me where the train station is, ...

I see Canada haven't improved lately.

Nice fightback in the closing minutes of the 1st.

Considering this session, among many many others, was 'sold out' via official routes, it's a shame to see so many empty seats down low. It looks packed up high in the lower price bands where people actually wanted and paid for tickets though.

Canada couldn't get past Russia's defense to save their lives to start this game - but Russia's ineptitude offensively kicked in as well. Somehow it's ended up virtually tied, and we might be lucky to see 100 points total in this game.

Unless the Russians keep leaving Smith wide open outside ...
Impressive recovery by Canada, and and equally unimpressive capitulation by Russia since around the time Becky checked in in the 1st.

1/9 was not a great half from Bricky. She'd have more assists if her teammates could hit a freakin layup though.

In all seriousness, however, Canada has scored but four points with Gabriele on the floor (8:48) in their point guard time-share...

She's taken some awful shots as well.

As a GB fan, I don't know whether to be happy about one of the 'worst' teams in our group potentially beating one of the 'best' or not. But either way I can't help rooting against the Russians Laughing.

NBCOlympics.com just randomly inserts commercials during the run of play. It's as if they hired a WNBA team's TriCaster operator...

She did travel two seconds before the one they erroneously called though. So they kinda got it right, inadvertently.

Yeah true but i still cant believe it when refs dont know what a streptrough move is and that it is legal

I wish that Peck would have paid closer attention to the game. The coach said to foul, get a stop... Canada did foul. They were then going for the stop on Hammon... That's why Thornburgh didn't foul.
