Season tickets have already been sold based on the current schedule. How would these tickets be handled in a moved game? I think moving games would create a mess for some. |
It would likely be just one or two games. It should be against the more popular teams like Minnesota, LA or Washington. Delle Donne always got a large group to travel up from Delaware to see her at MSG. Having to accommodate probably just 1,000 STH at MSG wouldn't or shouldn't be an issue. Would Dolan and the Garden rather have the arena empty or have a Liberty game with 7-10k? |
Possibly in there eyes the liberty game is just about the same as having it empty for that date. Although i do hope they move some more games over to MSG. Just seems a bit farfetched at this point. Liberty on the sale block and most likely focusing on finding a buyer this upcoming season versus trying to make the liberty seem suitable to the NY fans.

Just because there is nothing scheduled doesn't mean the venue is free ... many events require a day to set up and/or to break down.

This could possibly inpact the sale of the Liberty. Dolan prepping Knicks, Rangers for sale.

Which makes me wonder if whoever buys the Knicks if buying the Westchester Knicks is included? Or the Liberty?

The reason for a spinoff is because management feels the combined company is undervalued compared to the sum of its parts. You usually create a separate company(s), then spin off the new entity(s) to existing shareholders. It's hoped that once the parts are separated, then the stock market will correctly value the pieces. If they do, then the stock price goes up and the shareholders can cash in or wait for even higher prices. This is not about selling to a new owner. Its all about maximizing shareholder value. However, breaking up into smaller companies does make it easier for someone to buy the pieces if management should go in that direction. Speculation of this kind can itself drive up stock prices.
Several months ago, I posted a video with two securities analysts discussing the sale of MSG. The huge increase in sales price for sports franchises has left shareholders greedy and dreaming of a big payday. However, since these transactions are often ego-driven, I'm not convinced spinning off the MSG teams will get Dolan or his shareholders what they want. People only pay exorbitant prices for full control. That means you have to relinquish the team. The problem here is that Dolan wants to remain owner of these high profile franchises, while his shareholders want to cash in. One can say that Dolan is trying to have his cake and let his shareholders eat it too.
