Curious how Australia does without a legit PG. Do they still win their group over Turkey?

The Turks have been much more of a mess in recent times than the Aussies. I'll take the team starting Cambage at center over the one starting Quanitra Hollingsworth. Comfortably.

She was never really under consideration. It has allowed to join her club team right at the start of training camp, which should get her a solid start on that front.

Not many of them (without streaming ESPN+ to your TV):

Looking at the advance ESPN listings, it looks like all group play and the first round of playoffs will be on ESPN+. ESPNU lists one quarterfinal and one semifinals with the others on ESPN+. The final is currently listed for ESPN.

Here's another (new-ish) streaming source for all FIBA WWC games:
https://watch.dazn.com/en-CA/sports/?dclid=CjgKEAjwio3dBRDDoKHD-8PBzlwSJADCDGQXL-4oMBRLBb1OLCru9KbK4Jf0bepE-fPmmlt08JdxavD_BwE

$20/month, first month is free...not a bootleg site, it's run by former ESPN honcho John Skipper.

Just a warning to say always check the blackout rules and exact territories where things are available before handing over the cash to any of these places. Otherwise you'll end up needing to mess around with a VPN to watch something that you've already paid for.

ETA: The YouTube links are apparently geo-restricted to be available in: Belarus, Finland, Germany, United Kingdom, Iceland, Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, Bahamas, India, Kazakhstan. Or anywhere, if you can make them believe your computer is in one of those places, obviously Wink.

just throwing this out there, but anyone else find it odd that the USA has never hosted this tournament? Maybe in 2022?

It's kinda like those debates we always have over hosting the All-Star game - you have to want it and bid for it. Given the money and hoopla the US could put behind it, I doubt FIBA would be against the idea.

2018 was between Spain and Israel - the former eventually deciding to put it on an island off the coast of Africa which barely had good enough facilities, while the latter would've been a controversial choice and would've required evading the bombs and gunfire. This isn't the highest level of competition.

Nice summary. I did not realize that Christinaki turns 22 next year. She's an interesting player -- talented but obviously high maintenance. Worth a roll of the dice in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Muchas gracias, awhom111. The extent of the young prospects at this tournament does add another level of interest.

She will actually turn 22 this year. She's in the Diamond DeShields situation and could have declared, but did not decide to leave until after the draft so she's automatically in the next one.

So in terms of draft prospects to watch, we have:

Ezi Magbegor, AUS

Eleanna Christinaki, GRE(Maryland)

Kitija Laksa, LAT(South Florida)
Yacine Diop, SEN(Pitt)

Did I miss anyone?

From the little that I've seen of them, I actually like Han Xu better than Li Yueru. However, Han is really skinny -- like Bonner, LaToya Sanders skinny. I doubt she has the wiry strength of Bonner and Sanders, so she'd be better off staying overseas for a couple of years if drafted.

Watching the Opals struggle big time when their 3pointers are not falling.
Why is this Smith player thinking she is the go to player for the Opals? Shooting or driving every time that she touches the ball Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Johannes from France plays with a swag that reminds me of a young Taurasi Laughing Fun player to watch and if she matures a little bit she might be a good prospect for the WNBA

Nigeria played well against Australia. Akhator actually played solid D against Cambage. Maybe she's trying to get another shot in the W next season.
