Chicago, IL - 9:00 PM ET
TV: FS1

Live stats:

It's the battle for first place in the Big East as 8-1 Marquette travels to Chicago to face 7-2 DePaul. Marquette has won the last 4 match ups so DePaul is sure to be out for revenge (DePaul still holds a huge advantage in the all-time series though).

Huge game. Massey it DePaul 88-83. So what's the over/under on 3-pt attempts and makes?

Well hopefully DePaul has a lot more attempts of 3 pointers than Marquette. DePaul is a much better 3 point shooting team than Marquette and has made 739 3 point attempts to MU's 412. And Marquette tends to take a lot of 3's when they get behind early like the game at Georgetown (they took 26 3 point attempts in that loss to 10 attempts in their win at Villanova and 14 attempts in their win against DePaul in Milwaukee a few weeks ago).

They delayed it until 8:15P - guessing it was just in case the game before on tv ran late.

I am so nervous. Hiedemann hitting her first two 3's is a good sign - Go Marquette!

Too many turnovers and missed bunnies for Marquette so far. MU holds a 32-30 lead with 4:55 to go in the 2nd quarter. Hiedemann went down with an injury a little bit ago but it didn't look too bad - hopefully she's back in the game soon for MU.

Each team has hit 3 threes, but Marquette made theirs in only 7 attempts while DePaul has had 18 attempts.

When did Marquette change colors? Didn't they used to be black and gold.

How did I not know?????? Laughing

Denise Brooks was the only ref (of these three) at the USC/Missouri game I think.

Marquette has been blue and gold for as long as I know Smile.

I think DePaul leads 44-40 at the half - TV had it as 46-40 but I think that was wrong.

This one is over. Cue Marquette self destructing now. DePaul is up 57-46 early in the 3rd quarter and I don't see MU coming back from this. DePaul is playing super well and Marquette is playing awful but credit to DePaul for some of that of course.

Why was I thinking black and gold???? Maybe I should go to bed instead of watching this.

Was it a darker blue? Laughing

UW-Milwaukee is black and gold - thinking of them maybe?

MU does have dark blue road uniforms also.

Marquette has a lot of colors (we've been known to refer to that striping of theirs as fruit salad) but they've always been some variation of blue and gold, IIRC. It's been navy blue more often recently, though.

They have new yellow ones that they've worn at home with Marquette in cursive and black stripes along the back of the shorts - not something I'm a fan of.

I don't think I'm thinking of UWM. I don't remember ever seeing them play.

Maybe it's the dark blue that I'm thinking of and I need that optometrist appt. this week more than I realized!! Smile

It is black - you can see it in the picture with this release: http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/012618aab.html

Wow - quite the long distance by 3 at the end of the quarter to extend DePaul's lead to 69-62.

Missed free throws are really ticking me off amongst other things tonight - Marquette has actually been to the free throw line 6 more times than DePaul tonight but has made one less free throw than them. 6 missed free throws in a row now...

DePaul wins this one easily 95-83.

Technically the two teams are tied at 8-2 at the top of the Big East. But I think DePaul is in the driver's seat - they are much more likely to beat the teams they're supposed to and Marquette is much more susceptible to losing the games they shouldn't.

Boom!! That’s my girls!! They’re finally getting it together. I wish Rebekah Dahlman wasn’t hurt. She really would have taken this team to another level.

Is she gonna try to play another year or is she done?

I have no clue. There has been no information since the injury really. I hope she comes back.
