Vince McMahon is relaunching the XFL in 2020..this time without the gimmicks from the 2001 league. He will own the entire league, so he really doesn't have to answer to anyone about ratings and such.

The league will have 8 teams and play a 10-game schedule. No player with a criminal history will be allowed to play in the league.

Should be interesting to say the least.

The NFL adopted all the good gimmicks from the XFL

I actually liked the rule that once a punt went at least 25 yards downfield it could be recovered by either side.

As someone that was at an XFL game opening weekend between the LA Xtreme and the San Francisco Demons, I had a great time. It was fun football, pretty good quality with a few good ideas and some stupid ones. And come 2020 I will probably make my way to a new XFL gamem pairing it with a Cal Women's basketball game for a weekend trip if at all possible.

It'll fold again. Let's see where he decides to place these 8 teams.

I predict they'll never play a game.

I do find it amusing that McMahon is so gung ho about the national anthem, considering how Wrestlemania has used "America the Beautiful" in its place for decades.

Vince is apparently targeting ex-NFL cities like San Diego, St. Louis & Oakland for his 8. Also being reported are New York, Orlando, Birmingham, Portland and San Antonio.

Those are bad places to target---football fans who lost their team, or need something to fill after college football with Birmingham.

It's been reported that they're going the bankruptcy route in case they try and return in 2022, under a different name.

XFL 3.0 is happening. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is part of a group that has bought the XFL for $15 million. There's no set date for when the league will return.
