Karima Christmas-Kelly is the only somewhat surprising choice. I'm not surprised they would throw max money at her - with the league's fucked up salary structure, marginal starters and better bench players are getting max money.

I assume it is for just one year? They'll have Diggins-Smith and Johnson to figure out next year.

Could be a potential sign & trade coming up for her. Cambage shows up & the Wings trade Christmas to get a better pick(#3/#4) to get DeShields.

If the player just signs the core qualifying offer that comes with the designation, then it's one year at the max. But the player/team are perfectly entitled to negotiate a longer deal (which doesn't necessarily have to be at the max). The core tag sticks for the length of that contract, or until the player leaves the team (traded, waived, retired etc.).

The one I thought was mildly surprising was Indiana picking Dupree over Shenise Johnson, but that may have been in part due to Johnson's injury status. Wonder how many teams will pursue her despite the ACL tear.

I would assume Dupree and Bonner are trying to find a team together and their old teams want to make sure they get some value for it. And maybe MoMo has given Indy a verbal that she wants to stay there.

Question, if anyone knows, when's the last time all cored players re-signed with their respective teams?

2016, when there were four:

DeWanna Bonner Phoenix
Sylvia Fowles Minnesota
Crystal Langhorne Seattle
Candace Parker Los Angeles
