JMU won at Northeastern, 60-57, despite an impressive display of home cooking by the ref squad, by virtue of shooting 62.96 from the floor in the second half to come back from trailing 29-21 at the half. Kamiah Smalls (1Cool and Lexie Barrier(15) both scored in double figures, and Kayla Cooper-Williams, Devon Merritt, and Aneah Young had a little block party with 2 each. This year it's just gonna be harder than in past years.

South Dakota at NoDakSt. Yotes roll into Fargo. Bison won last years matchup at home but were pulverized in a matchup in Vermillion two weeks later. This current NDSU team isn't good at all.

Iona blows another lead. Up 47-38 after 3 qtrs., the Gaels were outscored 15-2 in the 4th to lose 53-49. The final frustration was when they were down 2 Canisius missed 2 FTs with roughly 15 seconds to go, but then the shooter snuck inside to get the rebound. Iona is still winless.

I just have to shake my head at Iona.

Might check them out on Saturday against Quinnipiac, just to see how horrible the carnage will be.

I keep thinking of Damika Martinez and expect them to have Something! maybe they can get her back and disguise her as someone else...

Nah, they've already given her number to a freshman who doesn't play. (So much for the retirement talk I heard about it right after she finished. It's not like she beat the shit out of all the offensive records or anything...)

nah, that is normal! Wink But if Ms. Hill continues with those numbers throughout conference season you will look like a genius!

I was going to say..the WNBA officials probably want that reviewed so they can make sure the assists meet their criteria. If it was Candace getting the quad double, no review needed though;)

Another interesting day in the 'others' category:
Belmont picks up another win -still without Kylee Smith - 78 - 59 over Tenn. Tech.
Dayton doubles up Rhode Island 116-58 Shocked
Florida continues stellar play by losing at home to Alabama 54-63
Surprising to me - West ILL losing big at home to South Dakota 58-82

JMU welcomed the Towson Tigers into the Convo Center and promptly defanged them, 69-45. It was Kind of strange in the Convo Center with no pep band (they were all out at the FCS championship in Frisco, TX) and a smaller than usual crowd than usual (ditto, I think) but we managed to make lots of noise anyway. Lexie Barrier led the Dukes with 18, and there were 3 others also in double figures. Also several moments of high comedy, such as Logan Reynolds running by a Towson player and slapping the ball out of her hands, to be recovered by Barrier, the two charges taken by Aneah Young who always comes up with a huge grin on her face, and a rebound missed by someone and then come up with by Cooper-Williams with a look of great surprise.

We play Drexel on Sunday. Lordy, I hope the pep band is back!

Delaware beat Elon 80-66 yesterday. This was Elon's first loss to a CAA foe *other* than JMU in quite awhile. It might also signal the rise of Delaware from the depths. We'll see.

In a battle of the unbeaten WCC teams (already 3 games into conplay and almost everyone has one defeat), Zags lead LOyola Marymount at the half by 12. Chandler Smith has 15 and Jill Barta has 11 for Zags. Gabby Green has 12 for LMU.

LMU has made several 2nd half runs but trail by 7 with 37 seconds left. Arts has fouled out for Zags.
