I think our miscellaneous thread is off its usual schedule, since the Christmas holiday got in between. We'll get the next one started next Saturday.

Meanwhile, I'm currently in Rose Hill Gymnasium, where it is very cold and Hartford's shooting is pretty cold too. Fordham is up 36-13. G'mrice Davis is doing her usual sort of thing, with 12 points and nine rebounds. Bre Cavanaugh looks good too, with eight and five.

Will keep y'all posted, especially on the second game.

Fordham actually put in the deep bench in a 69-44 win over Hartford. G'mrice Davis with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Hartford fans with some truly inspired whining, and I say this as a connoisseur of riding the refs and hollering loud commentary at the goings-on on court.

Up next, Yale and UC Davis.

Rose Hill is getting colder with all the Fordham fans gone. It's 38-33 UC Davis over Yale at halftime in the second game of the Fordham Holiday Classic, with seniors leading the way for both teams- Rachel Nagle for the Aggies, Tamara Simpson for the Bulldogs.

I think UC Davis could win their league..so, interesting that Yale is ahead. I always have a hard time knowing which league is/should be better than another.

Milwaukee avoided the upset 52-49. Steph Kostowicz had 17 pts, 5 rbs, 2 bks, 2stls.

N Kentucky missed a 3 ptr in final seconds that would have given them the lead.

Aggies came away with the 71-61 win. Uptempo team. They had a senior guard have herself a day, and there's a freshman forward who reminds me of Jackie Nared.

For people wondering about Stephanie White, in the second battle of Nashville (they just lost to Belmont by more than 30) after the first quarter it is Vanderbilt 17 Lipscomb 27. That's right, the SEC team is down by 10 to the 3-10 Atlantic Sun team.

Meanwhile in Brooklyn, the unofficial, non-trophy battle is currently being led by LIU, up 36-32 on St. Francis at halftime. My most favorite DeAngelique Waithe has 15 points and 10 boards. I think she might be taking this rivalry kind of seriously.

19 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 blocks; yeah, I think DeAngelique Waithe might take the Battle of Brooklyn, even in lower case, seriously. It was a thriller, and the best part was that LIU won, 61-59.

JMU opened its CAA season by putting a whooping on Hofstra, 55-42, on the Pride’s home court. We got the Hofstra video feed, but no sound. Wihen we tried listening to the sound fee while watching the video, it was at least two plays behind, which was seriously weird, so we shut it off and watched the silent feed, which was kind of stange, but doable.

JMU had three players in double figures--Smalls with 18 (she kept running over, under, around, and through Hofstra's D), Barrier with 13, and Kelly Koshuta with her first double double--10 points, 10 rebounds. Also 5 blocks, 2 of which were by 5'9 Logan Reynolds, who is fast becoming my favorite player. How, you ask? That child has a vertical leap that almost equals her height! And she is just the kind of player my dad always called a "happy warrior"...takes no prisoners, leaves it all on the court, and has fun doing it. So much fun to watch!

The Xavier-Butler game was pretty entertaining - XU had a lead and Butler fought back to make it close. But Xavier prevailed in this one.

On a completely random miscellaneous Big East note, I realized while watching this game tonight that Marquette is now the only BE school in Women's Bball with a female head coach.

And apparently Val Ackerman is pissed about this to the point of urging action. If I'm a coach at the bottom of the conference this year, I'm worried for my job even more than usual.

The Mercer Bears completed a sweep of their North Carolina road trip with a 90-74 win over UNC Charlotte. Khalia Lawrence led the Bears with 27 points while Sydni Means had 14 assists.

Midmajor upsets seem to be the order of the day. Northern Kentucky, Central Michigan and now maybe Tennessee-Martin.

But no

Belmont comes back to win 65-63.

St. John's lost at DePaul, because god forbid we defend their shooters.

Iona lost at Niagara, because god forbid we actually score in the second half (or, y'know, start our best scorer).

Fordham better not lose tomorrow to GW.

Love the unconventional triple double whether it's blocks or steals

DePaul does that to lots of teams. Their shooters are so plentiful that they're hard to guard.

On our way back from Fordham's win over George Washington. That was fun.

Purdue 57 - Wisconsin 35. Not looking impressive.
