The first major conference game of the season. Purdue has been a disappointment so far and Rutgers has been an overachiever. Interesting to see if Scaife and Rutgers can keep things rolling.

Mike Carmin’s game notes in the Journal and Courier

Quote:
The Boilermakers started the season with enough depth to maneuver the schedule. Well, the bench has become thin. Tiara Murphy (academics) is no longer with the program. The best case scenario for Dani Lawson (knees) is the freshman returns midway through the Big Ten season, but that’s unlikely. Center Fatou Diagne (foot) will miss the rest of the season but the junior college transfer hasn’t played, making it difficult gauge her talent level. That leaves three players who have appeared in 10 of the first 14 games but only Farquhar is averaging double-digit minutes. Basically, the current starting lineup will determine how well the Boilermakers stack up during the conference season. Managing foul trouble will be a challenge and another long-term injury will likely slow this team’s progress.

You certainly can tell we haven’t played in 12 days. Ugly.

Did C. Viv promise St' Joseph's transfer, Kathleen Fitzpatrick, a starting position? She's started 12 of 14 and yet only plays 9.5 minutes a game. Ala what Syracuse was doing with their Dutch player her first 3 years.

Fitzpatrick played 19 games as a freshman, started 24 or 28 games played as a sophomore and 18 or 29 games played as a junior at St Joseph's. I hope she transferred for reasons other than playing time.

You should get your own nickname. Calling Liston "Secret Weapon" actually made sense since fans couldn't tell she was on the team after being drafted in the first round. She got zero PR. Calling Scaife that doesn't make sense.

Perhaps that's a reference to her being left off of the B1G preseason lists...which was a big mistake!
