Maybe they should have kept DeShields (& Sims) with 5 players being out. Bird, Loyd & Stewart haven't arrived yet(next week?). Delle Donne's not playing until the Worlds & Kelsey Mitchell is back home.

I thought that Gaucher retired, at least from the national team?

Looks like a ton of free throws...

I'm glad the national team plays these tournaments before the World Cup-- gets them used to the international game again...

So A'ja Wilson and BG were the high scorers on the team. Good for them.

The US has never won three straight WCs

This roster has shades of 2006 all over it.

I was saying something similar a couple of weeks ago - that this was the most vulnerable-looking USA team since Donovan was in charge - and it was very reasonably pointed out to me that the difference from 2006 could be the competition. There aren't any opponents who look as threatening as the Taylor/Jackson Aussies or that era of the Russians. France are working out how to operate for the first time without Dumerc; even on home soil Spain are going to miss Lyttle; and beyond Cambage this is far from the best group the Opals have ever offered up. It might be enough to save the US from themselves even if they're a bit of a mess and missing 15 players.

You might be thinking of Shona Thorburn...?

No, I was very specifically thinking of Kim Gaucher. She announced her retirement from the National Team after Rio; according to the article posted by @threadkiller1201, she apparently changed her mind.

Yeah, already replaced in the squad by Jamie Scott (née Weisner).
