Announcers mention that Thomas has been under the weather and didn't practice with the team. She did get the start today.
Looking forward to the match-up with McCarty and Alix.

For Texas' sake, I hope Holmes is ready to hit the hardwood running.

what is the rule re charges/blocks? the defender can move sideways after the shooter begins her 2 steps?

what a see-saw first quarter. Aston with the early TO that seemed to make a huge difference. FSU didn't respond. I thought she missed an opportunity for a TO to try to stem the tide.

I believe she has to be set before the player leaves the ground.

The camera shot from behind the basket never shows the feet of the players. Video producers love the artistic value of that shot more than it's value in the age of the protected arc. I'm not so sure that Hosey got both feet out of the arc.

I watched s bit of the Texas-Northwest game earlier today and Boothe led in being the last player over halfcourt. I think she plays offense at the top of the key because it gives her a shorter trip back on defense.

We clearly forgot how to rebound. Texas already has 12 offensive rebounds

I thought her feet were outside, but that call is really hard to make in real time. When I first saw it, thought it was a good call. On replay, not so sure.

Here's Nausia. What were her parents thinking when they named her?

If the defender can move laterally before the shooter is in the liftoff, then charges should be easily produced 99% of the time (if outside the arc). It's a clear disadvantage to the shooter, imo.

To bring up ancient history Brianna Banks tore her ACL on a play she was called for charging. The defender jumped in front of her while Banks was lifting off the only foot she had on the floor. There was no way she could stop.
I've known a few refs over the years and they each had their own way of making charge/block calls and none followed the rule. I think there are too many charges called. And far too few moving screens.

LOL Neither team showing much 4th period composure. Right after the commentator says that every possession is critical there is a virtual 30 sec violation and two FS turnovers and another 30 sec violation.
And once again the home team prevails.

Figured we would drop this game but didn't expect to get abused on the boards like we did.
Good game by Texas. McCarty and Alix gave the mathup I was looking forward to seeing. Hopefully Thomas is feeling better as the next game is on the road at Creighton.

Home court advantage is really huge for these top teams.
