I will be there! I might even post at halftime.
It's been a while since they've been back home. I was starting to miss them.

38-30 STJ at halftime. I don't think the three-point barrage is sustainable, but the defense is. Akina Wellere has 11 points; Tiana England has 10. For JMU, Kamiah Smalls has been very impressive and has 11 points.
This one ref has been making a plethora of bad calls and bad no-calls (I was under the impression that stepping on one's opponent was frowned upon in this establishment). Young dude. Seen him before. Have never been impressed.
JMU's ball movement is crisp when it's not being stolen.

Halfway through 3Q, STJ has opened up a 21point lead.

JMU is really down this season which completely opens up the Colonial. Elon is certainly the favorite but William and Mary, Delaware, JMU and Drexel (who is hosting the tournament) could all get the bid.

I think JMU is very much looking forward to Debra Ferguson getting eligible. Koshuta's bulky and Cooper-Williams is tall, but both of them seem to be missing pieces of their game.

This was just a sad game. However, JMU is playing with mostly sophomores and just a few upperclassmen in their lineup. They depend heavily on Smalls and Barrier (both true sophomores), Koshuta (RS sophomore), Cooper-Williams, also a RS sophomore who missed ALL of last season and is just now getting her game back. Barron and Butler are the only seniors, and Reynolds and Young, who mostly come off the bench, the only juniors. Very much a rebuilding year.
However, I think anyone who sees Kelly Koshuta as just "bulky" hasn't watched any other JMU games. She's a real hustle player who rebounds, blocks, and even, on occasion shoots 3s. I do wish Cooper-Williams had a little more muscle on her, but she is what she is....and she's a ferocious blocker! And yes, we are definitely looking forward to getting Ferguson in there.
One real bright spot I saw yesterday was the play of Tori Harris. She is getting past her freshman jitters and showing her true basketball IQ. She'll be really valuable in games to come.
