Here's hoping we get a starting backcourt of Mikayla Coombs, a poor man's Bria Hartley,

and Andra Espinoza-Hunter, a rich woman's Meghan Gardler.

Either that or start Z over Gabby Williams.

119-56 final

The bench-riders (at the end of the game)

Nurse high score again in only 17 min.
She's 9-11 from three in two preseason games.

Hold the presses: Gabby Williams 1-1 from three. They said it couldn't be done.

The top seven rotation seems clear, but nothing else yet is. The starters simply dominated Ashland on the boards and ran them out of the gym when they weren't vivisecting them in the paint.

Lexi Gordon is last on the bench and the one Geno singled out during the practice season as not being able to keep up with the pace. Could be a poor practice player.

After doing a little research of the defending Division 2 National champions Ashland, I would think she will be able to get a head coaching gig in a mid-major division 1 at any time if she wants it. Pair her with an assistant who has division 1 recruiting experience and I think she will be ready.

I still think it would be depressing for a DII to play the juggernaut. Heck I think it's depressing for most DI teams. But I guess every basket you do make is like a minor victory.

I had the good fortune of having courtside seats for the second half.

I was impressed by Ashland's ability to ignore the scoreboard and to stay engaged in the game. They were outmatched, but they continued to play hard to the end.
