To Everyone who is playing, and to anyone else who is following along, have a very merry Christmas. The last six weeks have been fun, but with the conference season kicking off next week the fun is only beginning.

....and the very same to you, Cal.....thanks, also, for your efforts here. My entire season has been made thus far by having you allow me to beat Myrtle this week. Very Happy

The new year will be started with a slate of games that will be somewhat different from past weeks. I decided not to include any ranked teams and included only 5 games from the power 5 conferences. And in the spirit of new beginnings I even included two teams that were unable to win in the last two months of 2017 to get a new start in 2018. The games will be played from Monday, January 1 through Saturday, January 6, so all picks should be in by December 31. Next week we will return to the normal Sunday to Saturday scheduling. If anyone would like to choose the games for next week, or for any of the remaining weeks in the schedule, please post your interest. I am hoping that Cardinal will be returning to the fold soon. I will be able to keep up the scoring, but my time will be much tighter going forward.

Week 8 Games (January 1 - January 6, 2018)

Arkansas Pine Bluff - Mississippi Valley St.
Creighton - Seton Hall
Canisius - Iona
St Joseph's - St Bonaventure
Indiana - Penn St
Kansas - Texas Tech
IUPUI - Cleveland St
DePaul - Marquette
Alabama - Florida
Drexel - William & Mary
Navy - American
Butler - Georgetown
Creighton - St John's
Rice - North Texas
Utah - Washington
Princeton - Penn
Purdue - Indiana
St Mary's - San Diego
Harvard - Dartmouth
St Louis - Fordham

Please add your pick for the Canisius - Iona game, unless you are predicting a 0-0 tie, in which case I will reward you double points if you are right.

Week 7 proved interesting and challenging. It was an exciting end to 2017, as well as the start of some conference games. Only 3 games were picked unanimously by all 11 players, Rutgers over Purdue and West Virginia over TCU, which everyone got correct and Duke over Miami, which everyone got wrong. In a few cases a sole picker went out on a limb and it paid off for Pureform with Stanford over UCLA and Lynx with Virginia over Syracuse. Also a shout out to both Howee and UK1996 for correctly picking Ball St's first loss of the year. The winner of week seven is Pilight, who got 14 of 20 correct.

Week 7 Standings

1) Pilight 14
2) Adamj 13
3) Lynx 12

I just summarized the selections for the week 8 games and saw that we all have a soft spot for the winless. Mississippi Valley State was picked unanimously to win its first game of the season yesterday. We are all 0-1 for the week. Today only 3 players went against winless Iona. We will see how that turns out.

That's okay. I'm 0-3 so far this week.
