Surprised the Sparks haven't signed anyone to replace
Pondexter, especially with Wiese out.

They were overloaded at guard as it was. Wiese should be ready soon, and Samuelson can play guard even though it looks like they use her as a forward.

Gray/Sims
Carson/RWilliams
Beard/Samuelson/Wiese
NOgwumike/Lavender
Parker/Vadeeva

I guess you could go either way with a 12th man, but with Parker already acting like she’s running on fumes (or sore back?), especially on defense, I would lean towards signing a post player.

Random mention - just listened to a radio interview of Marianna Tolo. She mentioned that she was all set to re-sign with the Sparks prior to her ACL injury.
She is due to return to action in the WNBL towards the end of this year, hasn't ruled out playing WNBA again, but hasn't really mapped out her plans yet.

(heh - didn't take long for google to remove the Dead part, alls well that ends well)

Carson gives up nearly 20 pounds to Catchings and Nneka about the same to Larkins. Sure-fire way to get someone injured. iirc - Magic played center for 1 game ; it was a big one and necessary. Young LeBron could guard point guards ... young LeBron, it'd be a waste now.

Any updates on Nneka? Beard? Having only 9 players for a long stretch will only hurt the Sparks down the road. Surprised they still haven't signed someone to replace Cappie's roster spot.

The Sparks illegally started the season with only nine. Only having nine now is poetic justice.

Why are people going ga-ga over a player that got beat out by a non-impact rookie?

I can't get the sudden love to Dev either. If she was that good, I don't see the Mystics letting her go.

The Mystics we're overloaded at the PF spot in camp. Peters basically got beat out by Hines-Allen.

The irony is that they had enough players in camp to field a football team, but only end up with 9 at the start of the season and now.

They have 11 which may be all they can afford depending on what Cappie was making. If there is any excess, it probably should rightfully go to Sims.

For the Sparks not to use their health exemption, they must be expecting Ogwumike or Beard to be ready soon.

Read one post elsewhere who said a "trusted" source said she would be out indefinitely, to which someone else posted she was working out with Beard yesterday...... "Trusted sources" and "seen by: are 2 folks I have no faith in. Rolling Eyes

Guess we will know when we know.

and it depends on the workout. A shoot around is one thing, a real sweat it out is another. Plus even if she plays it's unlikely she'll be game ready after all that time out.

I think they discovered the cause of the migraine's and her not feeling well. It was the same reaction the rest of us have been having watching their performance on the court. That would make anyone sick.
