"I just never felt like I fit there," she said. "Most people are like oh, it's because you're a freshman and you're not playing very well, but I can't use that excuse. That's when I knew it wasn't right. All this stuff is so perfect, why do I still feel that way?

"I just think that, I wouldn't say the way they play, but the way they went about things on the court and their style of basketball. It wasn't me and wasn't what I've been about with basketball."

It wasn't about distance from family in Idaho, she reiterated.

How did they play? Too much defense?

Interesting read. I'm looking forward to watching her unfold, next season.

you think OrSU doesn't play defense? I actually think the cute lil gnome is more demanding and probably more specific about what he wants than Brenda is ...and, in a way he has to operate that way because he doesn't get as good of athletes as she does.
Anyway, even though she says it wasn't because of the distance, I would guess that going from remote Idaho to suburban Maryland was a pretty big culture shock. I'm guessing that hicktown Corvallis is much more a milieu she can relate to...

That was a nice article. I get the sense she just wasn't quite ready for the entire culture shock. High School to College. Small Town Idaho to College Park Maryland. Being so far away from home. No longer being the center of attention. Nothing wrong with that at 18.

It sounds likes she is settling in and she is enjoying the year off while getting acclimated to a different phase of life. That was the old concept in not allowing freshman to play. It is great to hear no negativity from either her or Frese about the transfer. She should be a great addition to the Pac 12 talent pool next season.
