Maya was always drafted onto a team full of winners.

She got drafted onto a team that went 13-21, was seven years removed from their last playoff appearance, and whose major offseason acquisition was an undersized 40-year-old center.

She got drafted onto a team who went 13-21 because both their SGs - #1 draft pick Augustus and 6th woman Wiggins - went out with injuries early in the 2010 season and they were forced to play their rookie Wright there. Even then, they barely missed the playoffs. Their 2011 lineup (top 7 players) consisted of 2 #1 picks and 3 other lottery picks.

In 2010 Augustus started more games than Wright. Augustus had five seasons with the Lynx at that point and had never played a playoff game.

Is the relinquishment of the trial by jury and the liberty of the press necessary for your liberty? Will the abandonment of your most sacred rights tend to the security of your liberty? Liberty, the greatest of all earthly blessings—give us that precious jewel, and you may take every thing else!… Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel.
