The Oregon Ducks currently have a great post player in Ruthy Hebard. Whatever happened to the one that graduated a few years ago, Jillian Alleyne?

She had a knee injury and was drafted in the 2nd round by the Mercury but ended up getting cut. Not sure if she ever fully recovered from the knee injury.

With all of the talk of Bonner and Dupree wanting to be in the same city, I find it interesting that one is signed and one isn't.

The thought or rumors of them wanting to play together this season doesn't seem likely now. Phoenix has Lyttle & Little at PF. No need for Dupree to come over.

Teams sometimes hold off on signing players that are expected to sign for big money. This gives them some room under the salary cap for potential signings or trades followed by freeing up room to finally sign their stars. I am assuming that Dupree, Tina Charles, and Kayla McBride (who is not yet officially signed anywhere that I see) fall under this category.

Plausible with Charles, semi-plausible with Dupree, but pretty damn unlikely with McBride. The only players Vegas have that could be on anything like high-end salaries are the three they've added this offseason (Young, Swords, Bone). The rest of the roster is youngsters and junk. Leaving about as much cap room, relatively speaking, as the Cleveland Browns. Even Trader Bill shouldn't have any real need to ask McBride to wait.

But yeah, sometimes both sides are so comfortable that the deal will be done that they feel no urgency to dot the i's and cross the t's.

Considering McBride was at the "choose a seat" event, it seems highly likely she will return

I think it's 100% certain. I don't know the cap numbers in LV's specific case but the fact that she was on site and still unsigned is what makes me think they are holding off deliberately. Or maybe there's just some detailed negotiation going on like she gets a chip allowance Laughing

Is “choose a seat” more sacred then other community service assignments players need to sign up for?

Well, yeah. This is the team catering to its STH, the most valuable customers they have. It wouldn't make much sense to have them meeting and getting pictures with someone who isn't going to be on the team.

And in the inaugural year, too. They had Jefferson and McBride with McBride coming over from Turkey for it. Pretty clear indication that they are the players they want as the face of the franchise.

They had Kayla Alexander representing the Aces at their big name reveal ceremony and subsequently practically gave her away in a trade. Did that make sense? Everything doesn’t have to make sense. Stuff can happen, like Howard not staying with the Lynx.

I’m sure Harding signed autographs and took pictures with plenty of fans that preseason before he got traded away from ATL.

McBride is the best player that would be on the team after she signs (until Wilson signs), so I agree that it doesn’t much sense not to sign her and yet she remains unsigned for reasons unknown and can only be surmised. Her being at a “choose a seat” event wouldn’t give me that much comfort. In fact, her being at this event and not being signed would give me pause.

Comparing a rotation player, who was most likely the only player available at the time, to the franchise player is interesting.

Didn't they also have MoJeff there? So yes, they had two under contract players representing the team. There might not have been an intention to trade her at the time.

Isn't that literally what happened with the Lynx and Maya Moore a couple years back? I remember all sorts of trepidation on these forums about what it could all mean, and through all the hand-wringing the voices of reason were saying the delay was a non-story. I think ultimately the excuse was some nonsense about a printer, but in reality it was just that she was overseas and neither side had any worry about what was going to happen and that they would make it official eventually.

Trade(s) maybe? There isn't much left in the FA cupboard.

Latta's still available. And the cored players(Charles, Dupree, Langhorne). But that's about it.

Dupree going elsewhere seems the most likely.
