The New York Knicks have agreed to trade Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources told ESPN.

Oklahoma City will send Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a second-round 2018 draft pick to the Knicks, sources said.

Anthony has a no-trade clause which he needs to waive for a deal to go through. Sources tell ESPN that Anthony will sign a letter of authorization granting permission to be traded to Oklahoma City and that letter will be part of the trade call on Monday.

Anthony had been encouraging the Knicks to show urgency in their pursuit of a trade before the season, league sources said. Anthony originally had targeted the Houston Rockets as a potential destination, but after the Knicks were unable to come to a deal with the Rockets, Anthony expanded his list to include the Cavaliers and Thunder.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Sucks for Kanter, given his recent outpouring of love for OKC, but we'll take care of him in NY.

It does make the Knicks stacked in the post assuming Noah is healthy.

PG: Ntilikina/Sessions/Jack
SG: Lee/Hardaway Jr./Baker
SF: Thomas/McDermott/Beasley/Kuzminskas
PF: Porzingis/O'Quinn
C: Noah/Kanter/Hernangomez

The Knicks will continue to be irrelevant

They can at least dump Noah after this season(he signed a two year contract). They're weak at PG, but with Anthony gone the team could have a new type of energy.

OKC dumped the big and long-term salaries of Kanter and Oladipo to get what will be one year of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. If PG13 and Melo leave (both have player options), OKC will be $20 million under the cap. If Westbookr leaves, OKC will be $50 million under the cap, but will have next to nothing.

It is a big gamble for 2017-2018 and the future, but kudos to OKC for pulling it off. I will be watching OKC quite a bit this year to see how the three play together.
