Stupid to trade that draft pick in a strong draft.

Did he serve as GM too? Did he have authority to make that deal without anyone else concurring? Did the owners bless it? Or is Natalie White getting fired too?

Cooper was the de facto GM.

Natalie has been with the Dream since day one. Hard to imagine her being fired.

Is that the last of him in this league or will someone hire him again?

Hmm... I noticed they didn't list the newest trade acquisitions.

Exciting young roster constructed by who (other than Hayes)?

I disagree 100%.....With Angel sitting out the season,Cooper had a pass. Not to mention, drafting Sykes/Holmes,and acquiring Williams/Clarendon in 2016.Cooper had a pass until Atlanta lost their lottery pick.

I would not be shocked to see him in the league again. He's a competent coach.

Leslie's a coach in the gimmicky 'Global Mixed Gender Basketball' league. Haven't heard that McCoughtry's got anything to do with it. Smith will probably be on their list, but if she's still under contract in New York they'd have to let her actually talk to the Dream. Libs franchise hasn't always been keen on that.

Trading away the lottery pick wouldn't have been a problem if he got results.

It's not for sure that he had a pass. You would think so considering the McCoughtry situation, but he was acting like somebody that needed to make the playoffs. He traded away the second round pick to CON for Hooper, a player who was picked up from the waiver wire. He got the second round pick back when he realized Hooper wasn't the solution and traded her away.

I think a big problem was the Boyette/Young trade was too late in the season. They were never going to get assimilated that fast. Maybe if he had made this trade back when he was trading for Hooper, it would have worked out better for him.

You never know, maybe McCoughtry had some say in it. It usually pays to keep your franchise player happy.

Now ya heard.

Quote:
Angel Lajuane McCoughtry, WNBA superstar and franchise player for the Atlanta Dream has signed on coach and play for the Atlanta Heirs co-ed professional basketball team. Team Owner Tiny Harris says, “This is a major move for our organization, Angela’s hard work and dedication has turned her into a superstar in the WNBA.

Quote:
Angel Lajuane McCoughtry stated, “I am excited for this opportunity. And it’s great to be a part of an organization that stands for equality. September 23rd we’re going to put the best co-ed players on the court at Cox Pavilion as we take on the New Orleans Gators.”

I hope she doesn't leave and replaces Laimbeer, but it looks like Bill has been energized during this 10 game win streak on the sidelines, which makes think he still has a lot of energy left. Earlier he would just look disinterested like he didn't care anymore when they were playing bad or good

Exactly. It was just a first round pick at the time of the trade.

Cooper was never known as a hard worker, and that too might factor into his dismissal.

I agree that without McCoughtry there wasn't much hope for the Dream, so from way outside and a couple thousand miles away, it would seem to me there might be other factors involved than just wins and losses.

If Atlanta made the playoffs,Cooper would still be the dream HC in 2018.The post trade record means nothing, unless there's something going on behind the scenes we aren't aware of.And if dream management had their doubts about Cooper, why even let him make the Boyette trade ?

I'm not following you. How do you separate the two?
