The UConn haters never cease to amaze me ...

1) They get the best talent so that's why they win.
2) The talent they get doesn't become the best until it signs with Geno.

Only one of those can be true ...

Christyn Williams led her team to a 40-1 record and a state title. She averaged a huge number of points against lower-level opposition.

Generally, the default No. 1 ranking goes to the best senior on a highly ranked high school and/or club team, but there were none of those around this year. Against a less than stellar field, Williams had a brilliant year -- and wound up on top. It had nothing to do with UConn ...

Sounds like Haley Jones to me.

Haley was only a junior, and her team didn't win a state title -- in fact, didn't even play in the state championship game.

She's really good, no question, and it would be hard to argue that she didn't deserve it, but Williams showed very well at the McDonald's game, and is certainly deserving as well.

Ugh the Mingo-Young to Mississippi State makes me sick, I’ve watch this kid play since she was in the 7th grade playing HS varsity basketball! Good job Nikki on not recruiting in state players!

Whalen gets her first commitment at Minnesota from Stillwater's Sara Scalia. When Stollings departed, it was often mentioned she never signed a (non-transfer) Minnesota high school grad in her 4 years. Whalen changed that less than a month in.

That's nice, but the big get is Haley Jones from Cal Stars and Archbishop Mitty in San Jose. The sense has always been that Jones is a great fit for Stanford, but who knows?

Jones will play a lot as a freshman wherever she goes, and is a versatile wing who can run the point for a while or even provide some low-post presence as a four.
