I've been watching certain players show how the prime has now passed and are on the downward curve of their great careers (i.e. Whalen) and have obviously lost a step. Any names come to mind for you?

Sancho came immediately to mind for me. Also Perkins and Brunson. Brunson has (until the injury) transformed her game enough to remain relevant but she doesn't have the quickness inside that was her trademark. As good as Birdy is, she's definitely lost a step as well. She was never a great defender but now the youngsters abuse her. Pondexter definitely - watch her now and you forget that she was elite.

Taurasi, too. The names in this thread are basically the dozen oldest players in the league. Father Time remains undefeated.

I agree with Myrtle plus I will add Taursai to the list. She does not have the energy to bring it every game like she did in her prime. She is still a good player though.

I have been making that statement for years. Laughing
If Father Time had a squad! He would trash talk like Michael Jordan. "I am winning this game and there is nothing you can do to stop me."

I shudder to think what Candace Parker will look like when she brings it less often than she does now

Alana Beard - still a good defender but needs to retire at end of season
Sancho Lyttle - needs to retire after this season and let youngsters take over
Diana Taurasi - probably back in 2018, and then needs to retire
Lindsay Whalen - still a good floor leader but 2018 or 19 needs to be her last
Camille Little - should've retired when Seattle traded her
Sue Bird - see Sancho Lyttle
Danielle Adams - needs better conditioning if she wants to return next year
Seimone Augustus - see Sancho Lyttle & Sue Bird
Rebekkah Brunson - see Sancho Lyttle, Sue Bird & Seimone Augustus
Tiffany Jackson-Jones - not even sure why shes on a roster this year
Jia Perkins - should have retired after last season. Trying to milk a dead horse
Plenette Pierson - finally, someone who knows when to bow out
Cappie Pondexter - see Diana Taurasi

Erlana Larkins.

I actually think Birdie has looked better. She was never speedy or a good defender but the new scheme is making her be more active and she looks faster on breakaways than in years past. It's very relative though. You can see in other ways how she is older.

Sue Bird is averaging 30 minutes per game. She's shooting more than 42% from the floor, more than 38% from three-point range. She's averaging 6.4 assists per game, third in the league. Is she older? Yes. Is she as good as she was in her prime? No. Does she "need to retire after this season and let the youngsters take over"? No way.

Unfortunately, the Star's de Souza lost a step 2 or 3 years ago.
