Not seeing Hayes, Stewart, Taurasi, or E. Williams on the link you provided.
In other words, no bios for players whose WNBA teams are still in the playoffs. |
That's been changed since yesterday, presumably after Feinberg called someone up to ask if the additions/omissions meant anything. |

People should be requesting or demanding to Borders that they run this game on League Pass as a courtesy to its users.

I am outraged that I won't be able to watch the game tonight so I will be outraged not knowing what I should be outraged about except from going by Twitter updates and boxscores, unless a replay will be available somewhere?

Antonelli happy with the first quarter. Lots of scoring.

1st half standouts IMO:
Clarendon
Diamond
A'ja
A. Gray
not exactly who you'd expect...

Fowles finished the season with a torn ligament in her elbow. We have no public information whatsoever about why the likes of Moore, C.Gray, Diggins-Smith, McBride, J.Thomas et al aren't at this camp. Maya I somewhat understand wanting rest - especially as she can likely walk back into the squad for 2020 anyway. The others, with a rare opportunity to play for and establish themselves with Team USA, are harder to understand. |

Wilson, Nneka, and Diamond look like obvious picks for the team.
Based on this game Collier, Clarendon, Arike are possibles.
Didn't see too much from most anyone else, but of course it depends on who is showing up in practice as well.
and BTW: both Ionescu and Hebard looked like they were in way over their heads.

Agreed about Ionescu and Hebard. Looked slow and kept picking up dribble.

So if I had to pick 12 from what we saw here, it'd probably be:
PG: Clarendon, Plum
SG: Arike, A. Gray, Sims
SF: Diamond, Collier, Tuck
PF: A’ja, Tina (didn't look good today but we know what she can do)
C: Nneka, Shepard or Dolson

Ogunbowale showing well with Reeves as the coach, if she is there at #6 could be intriguing. Collier showed well also they both shouldn't be gone by #6.
(I know Shades they have to go post, but can Minnesota pass on Arike if Collier is off the board?)

Without wishing to turn this into yet another Lynx thread, Minnesota don't need to go post at all. They've got two building blocks in place for the near future, one on the perimeter, one inside. Everything else is up in the air. Augustus and Brunson both need replacing pretty imminently (plus no one's really convinced that point guard is sorted either, if there happened to be an option there). So you take the best player.
Didn't get to see any of this game, but it's a shame that Ionescu apparently didn't look great. Still kinda hoping she sneaks in. |

if above is the list the team comes from maybe something like
Bird/Sims/Ionescu
Taurasi/Loyd
EDD*/Hayes
Stewart/N. Ogwumike/Wilson
Griner/Charles
last picks comes down to Ionescu, K. Mitchell and Plum ie who is the PG of the future pick (even though they are all kind of 2s but probably have to play point on the National Team and in the W).
Are we sure that you have to be in this camp or the playoffs to make the team? I realize Worlds is soon but if someone like Moore or Fowles wanted to be on the team but wanted a post playoff break wouldn't they still be pretty automatic to make the team? And even though they have never been on the National Team if C. Gray or Diggins-Smith are in consideration to get a PG spot in 2020 I would think they might still get the spot over the younger players in this camp even if they sat out this last camp before naming the team. Though that does seem like a risky move unless they have some sort of minor injury as this is the last camp before naming the team I assume.
*Also if EDD's injury prevents her from going I wonder who gets her spot? I will go with Deshields. |
So did Diamond do enough to grab a spot? Do Ionescu just lose her spot to Plum? does back up SG come down to Hayes or Loyd instead of both?
Bird/Plum/Sims
DT/Hayes or Loyd (or both and no Sims?)
EDD/DD
Stewart/N. Ogwumike/Wilson
Griner/Charles

Ogunnerfromfaraway didn’t make the cut.
Here are the remaining 15 players from camp with Elizabeth Williams recently added.
https://www.usab.com/news-events/news/2018/09/wnt-roster-for-nyc.aspx
Elizabeth Williams (Atlanta Dream)
Tina Charles (New York Liberty)
Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks)
Odyssey Sims (Los Angeles Sparks)
Layshia Clarendon (Connecticut Sun)
Napheesa Collier (University of Connecticut)
Diamond DeShields (Chicago Sky)
Stefanie Dolson (Chicago Sky)
Allisha Gray (Dallas Wings)
Sabrina Ionescu (University of Oregon)
Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever)
Tiffany Mitchell (Indiana Fever)
Kelsey Plum (Las Vegas Aces)
Morgan Tuck (Connecticut Sun)
A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces)
WNBA Semifinals group still up for consideration
Sue Bird (Seattle Storm)
Elena Delle Donne (Washington Mystics)
Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury)
Tiffany Hayes (Atlanta Dream)
Jewell Loyd (Seattle Storm)
Breanna Stewart (Seattle Storm)
Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury)
I would say the bottom 7 players are the strongest candidates to make the team.
So take those 7 players, and add 5 players from the top list, and that’s your team.
Plus add a replacement candidate in case Delle Donne bows out because of her bone bruise.
Sue Bird/Sabrina Ionescu*
Diana Taurasi/Jewell Loyd/Tiffany Hayes
Elena Delle Donne/***
Breanna Stewart/Nneka Ogwumike/A’ja Wilson
Brittney Griner/Tina Charles**
*If you’re like me and see Ionescu as the future, I’d like to see her brought along, and use Taurasi and Loyd as backups if things get too scary. The last thing we all want (except for the international fans) is Ionescu to become the next Vandersloot. If they see this as unrealistic, then it’ll probably be Sims, Clarendon, or Plum instead. I’m not in love with any of those three. The article described Sims as a headlining player, so I suppose she may be the strongest candidate for backup PG.
**I would elect Charles to return to center for this tournament, or else we’re in danger of Dolson making the team. I don’t think that should happen.
***Dogfight between DeShields, Collier, Tuck, and Gray for backup SF. If EDD bows out, then two of them make up the SF slot.
