I was high on Coffey before the draft and I am still high on her. But she needs to get a 3-point shot and transition fully to playing the 3. |
agree. She has a lot of talent and athleticism, seems to understand the team concept, and has some bball smarts. Lots to like there.

No quotes given here but I may have been trying to keep people from being overly discouraged about the draft. I was definitely not the biggest Plum advocate, and if she was the #1 pick, how good could the class be? It's unusual for the #1 pick not to be a forward or post. Could be a good indicator for the class quality. How did 2015 rate? |
It is indeed rare to have a #1 pick not be a forward or post. Plum was just the fourth #1 overall pick under 6' tall. Sue Bird is Sue Bird. Lindsey Harding was the only #1 pick ever dealt on draft day. Jewell, like the Storm, has been up and down this year. In the right system and with the right coaching, though, she has all-star potential. Jewell is also benefiting from playing alongside Stewie, a player considered for years as the consensus 2016 #1 pick.

In hindsight, L. Allen and Chong should probably have been first round picks.
I added minutes played. Hard to really judge players who aren't playing more than 10 minutes per game. Some of these players haven't played in all the games either.

I'm not very good at it either ... no need to be defensive. |
I've always admired your willingness to call your predictions "Dead Wrong In Public". It takes guts to look back and go "yep, I miscalculated that one" instead of getting upset at reality for not conforming to your expectations. |
Credit where credit is due: I stole "Dead Wrong in Public" from Bruce Jenkins, a Bay Area sportswriter.
And since people love predictions, sportswriters have to do them, and it doesn't take long to notice that even though you think you know stuff, you are very often completely wrong.
Coaching brings it home too, because you go into a game totally confident and you get hammered, or (pessimist that I am), I think we have no chance and then we win easily.
Of course, that's what makes it fun.
