The Fever will probably win this game because supposedly without Whalen, the Lynx don't have the talent to compete in the WNBA. In their first matchup, Indiana took advantage of the fact that the Lynx don't have any players as good as Candice Dupree, and that the Fever had the advantage at center with Natalie Achonwa, Erlana Larkins & Jennifer Hamson all being better than Sylvia Fowles. Also we saw yesterday how the Storm beat the Lynx due to similarly having the advantage at center (the Lynx not having a center as good as Crystal Langhorne), and that fact that the Lynx's SF, Maya Moore, isn't better than Alysha Clark.

(S)He may not be all that wrong. First, Wheeler is better than Augustus; Gwathmey is better than Montgomery and Dupree is certainly better than Pierson based on Fan Duel evaluations. Indiana won the last encounter and has the advantage at 3 positions. They could win. S0 I voted for Indiana, and strangely I am the only one who did so. Does this suggest a lack of conviction in some corners?
(Meanwhile, FD may be missing the fact that Montgomery and Pierson will be starting in place of injured players so there may be some $ to be made by betting on them.)

No. As a Minnesotan, am I outraged at how all of our teams suck or when they are supposed to be good, they choke in big games. Or how they are better at winning titles for other teams than themselves (like the Vikings gifting the Saints a Super Bowl or the Twins giving titles to Boston by cutting David Ortiz & giving them Kevin Garnett). I am still angry at the Lynx for basically giving the Sparks the title last year instead of winning for themselves in Game 5. I am outraged at the Lynx for underachieving every year. Are they the only team in history that can have Olympians at every position and not win? The only time the Lynx have ever won anything was when they had so much more talent than every other team in WNBA it would be impossible to not to win it all. The Lynx beating the Dream in their WNBA Finals matchups are about as impressive to me as UConn WBB winning the American Athletic Conference Tournament. I must express my outrage about the Lynx as much as possible until they prove otherwise by winning a WNBA title now that other teams like the Sparks have caught up to them in talent.

Any word on Brunson?

If you read the fine print, Randy claims Pierson is starting for Brunson.
I'd like to see Howard start. She and Montgomery showed great chemistry back when Reeve played hockey lines early in the season. I'm also a little worried that Reeve leap-frogging Howard with Pierson might cause Howard to opt out after her rookie contract is up this season.

Is the Fever a basketball team or a M.A.S.H. unit?

The local news broadcast just said Brunson would be missing some time. That sounds like multiple games.

Lynx injury news: forward Rebekkah Brunson has a sprained left ankle. She's expected to miss about 2 weeks. Whalen out at least 2 more, too.

YIKES! Lynx are falling. Only 9 players available for the next two weeks unless they bring someone in on an injury exemption?

I was just guessing though. I figured anytime you put a boot on - its likely to be at least a game or two.
Howard also would be playing against her old team, which usually seems fire players up.

Should be interesting to watch the Lynx play without both Whalen and Brunson.

All you have to do is watch most of the Seattle game.
But now they can practice more with the knowledge Brunson will be out of the lineup. Hopefully if Pierson is given the nod, they'll be working on getting her shots closer in. With Pierson, the defense is better off just letting her shoot that long ball that she likes to shoot.

Monty must have read that article. First time as a starter looking inspired.

This one's over already. Just out Jones & Temi in for the rest of the game.

Umm, no. The Lynx must re-learn how to dominate.
