Sparks just signed Gruda, so I guess they are happy where they are. I could see the Storm or Wings trying to add "that player" to push them up to the playoffs. It always seems the Sky would be the logical trading partner and I think now the Sky's chances of making the playoffs are very low.
But - probably nothing happens.

I remember when the Lynx had her. Shades was always trying to find a trade for her. What's the deal - does she have bad breath or something?

I think the Sky still have a decent shot at making the playoffs. Their schedule from here on isn't very tough. IND, SAS, SEA twice, and DAL are all fairly winnable.

They have beaten Atlanta in our place last two times as well, so I'm counting the game in Chicago as a loss for the Dream. So 6 wins8 =14. I may have been premature in counting them out.
Just checked my tips and I have them down for 6 more wins or 14 total v. 12 for Dream and Storm. I have the Wings winning 3 more games, so they also end up at 14.

So much for the tumbleweeds: AP Sources: @ImaniBoyette and @tyoung11 to @AtlantaDream for Hooper and 1st round pick in draft.

That's a terrible trade for Chicago, even if that pick ends up being a lottery pick. #tank

I knew it - the T Young autographed jersey for sale in the pink auction was a big pink flag. Now Angel and T. Young get reunited.
I also posted a 3 team trade recently - Boyette to the Dream, her hubby to the Falcons and her brother to the Hawks. The first domino has fallen.
Now - Young and Angel mix like water and ice cream. Does this lead to another trade in the off-season???????

I agree. I don't know what Chicago was thinking.

Young is most likely gone at the end of the season. She signed an extension before the 2015 season, which would make this the last year of the deal.

She's probably having her best season as a member of the Sky.

I wonder if Young is a UFA at the end of the season. Pretty sure it doesn't matter, Boyette is the player Cooper really wanted (imho).

I think she shoots way too much and makes poor decisions. She's great on defense and as a person who will burn a defense if they choose not to guard her. She'd be a free agent at the end of the season and it looks like they decided to get value for her. I'm not as sold on Boyette as some are but it also suggests that Morello won't be able to help them like they want and they needed to get another option. Wonder where Young will fit in with Sykes and Hayes already at wing?

In what way is Young better than Bria Holmes?

Bad gamble for Chicago, IMO. Giving up two rotation players for Atlanta's pick? Sure, if you think that it's going to be lottery, but I think that trade improves Atlanta from my originally projected 13-21 to 15-19... which might still be good enough for the Dream to make the playoffs.

Yeah - Young, Hayes, Sykes, Holmes and maybe Angel are more wings than anyone, except maybe Dallas. I' figuring there is a change of address in the off season, esp. if Angel comes back. Or maybe Young is just an expiring contract, thought that would still leave us with a an oversupply of wings. I think Holmes has more potential than Young, but I like Young for a backup 3.
If I recall correctly, Young asked for a trade out of Atlanta, though this is now almost an entirely different team.
Silky - I think 15-19 will make the playoffs. I had the Dream at 12-22. Have to see how this works out before changing anything.

Young is an expiring contract. But I don't see where she would fit in the rotation right now.

I kinda like it as a consolidation move for Chicago. Copper gets to play more on the wing (along with maybe Hampton), and we know they had a glut inside (so maybe now there's room for Coates eventually). Meanwhile they add an extra pick in a draft class everyone loves that'll probably be mid-1st but could even slide upwards if Atlanta suck to finish out the year.
Atlanta get two backups to deepen their rotation. Woo. Boyette needs to flourish for it to work out for them (and be viable alongside Williams). |
