In his mind-blowing interview with the NYT Trump claimed the FBI Director actually reports directly to the President, and always did until Nixon came along:

"And nothing was changed other than Richard Nixon came along. And when Nixon came along [inaudible] was pretty brutal, and out of courtesy, the F.B.I. started reporting to the Department of Justice. But there was nothing official, there was nothing from Congress. There was nothing — anything. But the F.B.I. person really reports directly to the president of the United States, which is interesting. You know, which is interesting. And I think we’re going to have a great new F.B.I. director."

Not surprisingly, this is utter nonsense. 28 USC 531 - the first section of the chapter of the US Code dealing with the FBI (which predates Nixon, by the way) - simply provides, in total:

"The Federal Bureau of Investigation is in the Department of Justice."

The next section, 532, provides:

"The Attorney General may appoint a Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

I'm always curious when Trump says stupid and easily checked nonsense like this whether he just made it up himself, or whether some clown(s) on the White House staff actually gave him that misinformation.

My guess is that he heard it on "Fox and Friends" or from Sean Hannity. Both bastions of journalistic integrity and factual information. He gets so many of his talking points from those programs, which is basically tantamount to him believing his own spin.

I think he gets most of his "information" from The Devil. Really. (But Sean Hannity is a very close second, imo....LOL! Laughing )

I don't know how many more examples are needed.
