I voted for her too. She's the only player that has pretty much had to make her living on her 3.

Only question mark is probably Rodgers.

They should throw Sami Whitcomb in there as well. You usually have 6 in a 3 point contest.

Best three point shooters with over 4.4 attempts per game

I don't think Stricklen is in the All Star game, and Taurasi probably didn't want to get embarrassed, so Rodgers got the nod.

Sue Bird, aging goddess and still the highest percentage career three-point shooter in UConn history, pulls out a clutch win in front of her dithyrambic home town crowd.

It's an odd group, really. Why no Chelsea Gray, who's probably going to be there for the game anyway? Is Taurasi skipping the event entirely? And does this mean Rodgers made the East team? Because even in the weak East, that seems like a stretch.

I voted Sugar. No hometown bias whatsoever.

I went with Allie. I'm pretty sure it's my honest opinion, but it's possible that my aussie bias played a part as well.

All kidding aside, I do think Bird, Moore and Sugar have an advantage over Quigley and Thomas. Especially Thomas. Thomas takes a long time to get set, not a great attribute for this contest, even if she is shooting really well for CT. Quigley is a better standstill, catch and shoot shooter from long range as well, though I think she has come a very long way in terms of her off the dribble play inside the arc. The other 3, especially Bird and Moore, have quick releases and will willingly shoot quickly off the dribble from anywhere, which is in my mind a better trait for this contest.

I learned a word today! Today is a good day.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the league will do something gimmicky like unveil a mystery shooter for the sixth slot at the last minute. I don't know the stats, but Plum would give San Antonio a participant and bring some more local flavor.

Personally I wouldn't be against something like that. (Or Sami)

If this was anywhere else besides Seattle, I'd pick Quigley Down Under. Idea

But with Sue with the home-court advantage, I'll go with her Razz

Why not have eight and make it 3 rounds of eliminations to the winner?

How does it work with five? One round, top 2 go head to head in a 2nd round to determine the winner?

OK read the article top 3 go into finals.

The article say 6 but there are only 5 listed so I guess there is a mystery competitor. I guess Whitcomb or Plum would be nice for the home crowd. Maybe DT jumps in last minute or Sticklen or Toliver or even Stewie if they want to keep Seattle's home crowd entertained.

So far, she looks it.

I recently watched this mini-series called The Loch and one of the lead characters kept reminding me of Sue Bird.

Maybe they'll get a legend to show up and throw them in. These contests are made for players who never lost their touch but just can't move any more. For an All-Star Game in Seattle, surely someone's at least made the call to LJ...

To what end? Why would they do that without advertising it beforehand? That would be an incredibly poorly planned marketing strategy.
