Pretty simple analysis. If the Liberty are decisive in establishing offensive and defensive presences in the paint they'll win. If they don't they won't. It's something they should be able to do. I'd expect them to come out with a chip on their shoulders after Wednesday's effort. This is a game they kinda need to win if we're looking at the 2 seed as being significant.

Given what happened in the playoffs last season, I can't imagine there's any Liberty fan who would view getting the #2 seed as less than significant. It would be huge. I don't see this roster as being good enough to achieve that goal, but I hope I'm wrong. In any case, given the loss to Connecticut, it's very important for the Liberty to win tonight and then win the next game with Connecticut.

I tend to think they are good enough but there's so much talent these days that I think anything from 2-4 is reasonable. That said, in 2015 Piph joined NY at the ten game mark in DC. After a so-so start the Libs went 17-5 upon Piph's return. This year she rejoins NY at the 12-game mark in DC. This team is better than that one was and similar to the 2015 team, got its act together at around the same time. We're 6-4 with injuries, missing players and a few underperforming ones. I don't think anyone has outperformed their ability, and that's exciting. Because if we go on a lengthy streak with players playing at their peak, this team has a lot of talent even without Boyd.

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Fly through the revolution
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin',
Into the future

Eagle fly free
Let people see
Just make it your own way
Leave time behind
Follow the sign
Together we'll fly someday

Starting off with a little Skylar Diggins-Smith video feature. Then Reagan Pebley narrates highlights saying a few times that "she plays downhill".

Ever since I praised the officiating I think it's been terrible. Some of the stuff in this game is getting on my nerves.

Stokes, Hartley & L. Allen all with 2 fouls. Wings with 11 pts from FTs that quarter.

13 FTA in the first quarter for Dallas. The Libs really have to figure out how to play defense without fouling. Though that is a pace for 52 FTA for the game. Some of those calls I thought were kind of one-sided. It's getting frustrating. Both the fouling and some of the calls.

You have been at home. Calls don't go your way on the road. The refs haven't changed, your situation has. I can honestly say that the only game this year that I have seen where the road team got the better of the calls was the Atlanta-Seattle game earlier this week. And even in that game the refs seemed to even out some of it in the fourth quarter.

Not sure what was the worst part of that half: the refs, our bench or forgetting how to play defense? And somehow we're only down 3 at the half.

Our situation hasn't changed. we were minus FTA in most of our home games too. I do think there's less consistency tonight though.

Dallas is +4 in points in the paint. As much as Nayo is likable with upside, she's not a defensive presence and she rarely gets a defensive rebound. I think Stokes has to avoid that 4th foul. This isn't a team we are going to beat if we allow them to attack more than vice versa. They have too many players capable of attacking the rim effectively on the dribble drive. Our help defense HAS to be better. There were a few calls in there that might leave you frustrated, but NY simply has to play its game. Bottle up penetrating players on the baseline instead of letting them get to the rim.

Fatigue may also be rearing its head. Sugar and Tina played the entire first half.

No rest for Tina or Sugar this game. Stokes & Hartley with 4 fouls. Probably due to the fact they have a week off, otherwise we'd see more Zahui B.

She was never any good tbh...and getting even fewer minutes now with the emergence of Nayo.

Remember when Laimbeer was crowing about the range Stokes has on her jumper? When was the last time she even attempted a shot outside of the paint?

You can knock Fred for drafting Shakhator, but Davis and Gray more than make up for that.

There's a foul called on almost every possession. Liberty with 18 fouls resulting in Dallas shooting 21-24 FTs.
