Thinking back to the Libs winning 5 of 6, if you guys remember, one big factor was how quickly the the Libs got the ball into the post. Part of that I think was to negate the ball pressure that had been used on Hartley in prior games. I think that was good for a limited stretch of games when they were desperate for wins while shorthanded.

With Piph, obviously, some of their offense will run differently. At the end of the day though, if they're going to go on a run you'll see much quicker, coordinated ball and player movement. I tend to think if that is going to be a trend in the coming games, it will be established from the start of the Chicago game just as they established it at the start of the Dallas home game that initiated the 5 wins in 6 games.

One thing we can all agree on regardless of how well we think the outlook is is that with this stretch of 3 home games in 15 days, the team is in a position where they can and should put out absolutely everything they've got, since fatigue should not be a factor. They still have an opportunity to control their own destiny when it comes to getting a top 4 seed, with upcoming games against CT and DC. So I think the urgency that they played with without Piph and Kia, it has to be there every second of every game. For Stokes especially, since I don't think a stretch of games with 13, 15 and 17 rebounds should be an anomaly for her. Hoping the last two games are an indicator of better things to come, as she showed much more life on the boards than she had in awhile.

I hate that it feels like this much is riding on 3 home games in the exact middle point of the season. But it's what we've got. For me personally, I feel like 2 out of 3 may not even be enough being we have two games with two teams directly in front of us, especially being down in the tiebreaker to both.

And at the end of the day, I still think this can be a very good team. Maybe instead of the valley occurring at the wrong time like it has the last few seasons, maybe the peak will happen at the right time this time around. I sure hope so.

Did you mean 3 home games in 5 days?

No. I'm factoring in off days and the all-star break. They play 3 games in 6 days total. But with the off days there's no reason to worry about fatigue with 4 off days before the game tomorrow, no back-to-backs, and rest time after the game on the 19th. They don't play again till the 25th, so it's a total of 3 games over a 15-day period. Hence I'd assume that they're not worried about rationing minutes and the players shouldn't have to conserve energy in an inordinate way during games.

Bill mentioned tired legs after the Phoenix game. No more excuses.

I see what you are saying. I guess I was only thinking about the 3 home games on the 14th, 16th and 19th.

That's cool. Sometimes my thoughts and my clarity are not one and the same.

Pondexter is out due to concussion protocol.

that's bad for the libs...with sloot and quigs together so far they've been night and day different...destroyed Minnesota...came back to get a big win...will be interesting.

Chicago has a lot of big frontcourt players. They lead the league in blocks, so NY can't singlemindedly force the ball into the paint as they frequently do. The Liberty need to make a good number of outside shots or score off fastbreaks.

What is interesting is that Cappie also seemed to play better when one or both of those two were out. She was racking up assists like crazy when she was playing PG. Of course, the Sky lost most of those games except the ones against the Dream.

But with Pondexter out, their guards off the bench are pretty terrible(Epps, Copper, Hampton).

You're right, the Liberty suck. On the other hand, the Sky have found their groove! I predict Chicago will grab that 8th and final playoff spot. NY will replace them as a lottery team. Go Sky! Razz

Is 'variance' another word for 'concussion' these days? Wink

I've got Breland, Quig and Tina tonight. I don't care who wins - I just want these 3 to rack up a lot points, rebounds and etc. So far they all suck.
