. . . who have been drafted by the WNBA have made rosters, according to Jim Fuller.

The only one who didn't was a first team AA, Final Four MVP and Honda Award winner.

Kelly Faris was waived either yesterday or Friday, I forget which.

Not relevant to the thread topic since a) she was drafted and did make a roster and b) WNBA news has another forum where I'd guess this news is posted. But there are some who just can't help but try to inject negativity in any form readily available in response to a positive UConn post. Rolling Eyes

Ralph had five ACL tears. One happened when she was walking her dog.

Yeah and Vicki Baugh, Bashaara Graves, Jordan Reynolds were all waived as well (am I missing 1 or 2 more?) but who is counting.

That's because some people are just jealous. Kinda funny really.

And she COULD have made the roster but she herself opted to sit out her rookie year to let her knee's heal and rest. So she was never actually cut. She just decided not to return the following year. So, the Starzz MIGHT have kept her on the final roster IF she had decided to not sit out. You never know. She is still the only Uconn player drafted that never played in the WNBA.

Some people just have to be complete asshats and show out. Are you really drinking THIS early?

PS. I'm not jealous. I don't follow the WNBA that much, in case you didn't read that thread and don't read that board. I don't even post there (or read it).

In trying to reconstruct the 33 UConn players, I realized that something was wrong.

Jim Fuller probably didn't count Rebecca Lobo and Nykesha Sales, who were allocated to the WNBA in its first year. I don't know if this was technically a "draft" or not.

So, 34 of 35 UConn players who have been selected by the WNBA have made a roster for some period of time.

Quite a record.

A combination of good recruiting and excellent talent development. Players who go to UConn generally improve, sometimes dramatically. Players who go to other "elite" schools do not improve nearly as much, and so even if they are very talented, it's harder for them to get on a roster.

I know the WNBA would be just fine if Uconn never existed. Those players would have just went to other schools. But one has to wonder, what the state of the league would be like if Uconn had never existed.

You actually are. Why else say Faris was waived when this thread had nothing to do with players that have been on wnba rosters for years and then were waived? This thread was about a single Uconn player who was drafted but never played in the wnba. Nice try. Next!

And PS, I don't drink while I'm at work or at home. I just state the facts.

Agree. Of the UCONN players who are included in this list, I'd say that Dolson probably improved the most from her freshman to her senior season.

True. And Dolson had the dubious honor of taking over for Tina Charles in her freshman year and was an instant starter. She was NEVER supposed to be a star player by the time she graduated. Starting and having to basically take over the role of Tina Charles must have been incredible pressure for her and she had a rocky 2 seasons but by her 3rd and 4th, she was a rockstar.
