Funniest thing is A'ja Wilson not at #1. Russell higher than Gabby Williams is good for a chuckle.

Good to see this thread started early.

Anyone want to make predictions on international picks?

I will go with 10-12 for Vadeeva and 21-24 for Park maybe higher if she plays well over the summer and stays at the same level all season in Korea. I could see this being a pretty big crop of international picks late, maybe 6 or more in total.

This is the worst W mock Draftsite has ever put up. Where's Gentry? His are usually better and pretty reliable. Aj'a Wilson anywhere lower than #1 for any team not named Atlanta, Chicago, LA, Minnesota, Washington, Dallas, New York, Seattle, Connecticut, San Antonio, Phoenix, Indiana might make sense. But I can't see her falling past any of those teams.

I'm with Shades. Wait for them to clean this up.

Collier and Katie Lou are both Sophomores too.

Kaylee Jensen is kind of next year's version of Chantel Osahor.

They'll be old juniors next year, but I doubt Geno let's them go. He has a way about him.

It's hard to do a mock for 2018 without some kind of order. But here's how I'm seeing the 2017 season finishing and the likelihood that either Dallas or San Antonio gets the #1 pick. Wilson on either team would be a huge upgrade.

#1. Dallas - A. Wilson
#2. San Antonio - G. Williams
#3. Atlanta - B. Turner
#4. Chicago - K. Mitchell
#5. Connecticut - D. DeShields
#6. Phoenix - N. Collier
#7. Indiana - M. Russell
#8. Seattle - A. Stevens
#9. Washington - T. McCowan
#10. New York - K. Samuelson
#11. Minnesota - K. Jensen
#12 .Los Angeles - M. Billings

I'd like to have one of those nice forwards in the first round, but not sure about Jensen. Not up on Ok St. At this point, I'd take Billings over her.

One-third of your first round are early declarations. Realistic?

Turner might be a redshirt. If so, she'd be out of this draft.

I double checked these birthdates.

Kalani Brown and Katie Lou Samuelson are both born in 1997. They should NOT be draft eligible.

Collier is draft eligible, but I'm guessing not too likely to leave early.

yeah i been saying idk why Kalani was on this list ...shes even stated she was ready for 2019 on social media a while back . Seems no one is paying attention to big T Teairra McCowan though she would be available as an early entry. She seems like the most intriguing project of anybody going early next year to me .

I'm extremely excited for this draft class. It will be interesting to see who wins ROY and who makes the all rookie team. I'm really intrigued to see where Kia Nurse goes. I think she may be appealing because she seems to accept any role she is given. Gabby Williams is the same way.
1. Aja Wilson
2. Diamond Deshields
3. Gabby Williams
4. Kelsey Mitchell
5. Brianna Turner
6. Kia Nurse
7. Monique Billings
8. Jordan Canada
9. Mercedes Russell
10. Tyler Scaife
11. Lexie Brown
12. Shakayla Thomas

If the Storm get a low pick then i would be pretty ok with them drafting Vadeeva. Big talent with a high ceiling

It depends on how much interest she shows in coming over. If she's excited, maybe first round (but I'm basing it on hype). If she's wishy-washy, I can't see passing on a great college player who will show up.

Without High jacking the Dallas wings thread, some people are down on Evelyn Akhator saying she's closer to 6'1 vs her listed height of 6'3 and that she should have been taken number 10 instead of number 3, so I was wondering if anyone thinks 5'11 Gabby Williams will be successful at the next level, why she would be a lottery pick? Maybe because she went to Uconn? I like Williams and think she could be a Kawhi leonard type player in the WNBA, But right now it seems like she won't have a position in the pros.

Isn't Williams basically just a 3 in the pros? Maybe a little undersized if that 5'11" is accurate, but not scarily so. It'd be good for her future if she could work on her outside shot, but essentially she's a wing at the next level.

agree. And she has a whole different skill set than Akhator.

Gabby Williams came into UConn as a guard, but Geno converted her to post so he could get his best players playing the most minutes.

Here's Gabby's Prospects Nation page

Turns out they really needed her. Smile

Will be interesting to see her play at the next level, but right now she seems more like a undersized 4, she can guard wings but not sure you would want her guarding some of the bigger 4's she'll face in the wnba.
