You may be hearing it here first.

I've been saying for months that this is the best ball handling and assisting UConn team, collectively among the top six players, I've ever seen. The stats now bear this out.

With 852 team assists in 36 games, UConn has already broken the NCAA1 season record of 850 team assists that UConn set in 40 games in 2013-14.

This averages so far to 23.7 assists per game, which is on course to break UConn's own season record of 22.5 set in 1994-95, but which is currently in second place to Villanova's NCAA1 season record of 24.7 apg set in 1986-87.

UConn's current team ATO ratio of 1.99 is on course to break Villanova's NCAA1 season record of 1.89 set in 2013-14. UConn's own best season ATO ratio is 1.82 set last season in 2015-16.

There's very little chance of them breaking that one. They would need 63 assists in one game or 87 in two games to break the record.

UConn ended its 36-1 game season with the following assist and ATO records:

-- NCAA1 record for most assists in a season = 863

-- NCAA1 record for best ATO ratio in one season = 1.94

-- Second best NCAA1 season record for most assists per game = 23.3

UConn's stats were wounded by its 11 assists and 14 TO's in the final game against Mississippi State.

Saniya Chong ended the season with the fourth best ATO ratio in NCAA1 at 3.33.

All those numbers and the only ones that anyone will remember or care about is 66-64.
