The question then becomes, how are women supposed to bring in the money if stations won’t broadcast their games? There isn’t an easy solution to this chicken-or-egg problem.

Is this a joke?

(The NCAA is a nonprofit that is not required to follow federal Title IX guidelines forbidding gender-based discrimination.)

What planet is that author from?

And that doesn't even get into the confusion she brings to the question of ratings vs demand.

This has to be one of the most ignorant, ill-informed pieces of rubbish I've seen in quite a while.

"CBS sports, which signed an $8.8 billion extension to its contract with the NCAA last year to broadcast March Madness games through 2032, only lists the men’s schedule on its website. If the men’s basketball tournament is the only one broadcast, it stands to reason that the men's games are the ones netting the network any money."

So not being shown on CBS means not being shown at all? Is the author unaware of the other 100+ TV networks or that ESPN televises the women's tournament?

The basic "fact" underlying the article is that the women's tournament isn't broadcast, yet that assertion is completely false.

And I wonder how much of the $9.2 billion bet on the tournament that the author cites is bet on the women's games?

The fact is that the women's games aren't broadcast, they are on cable. Of course the fact that most of the men's games are also only available on cable escapes the writer.
