One of my fellow artists at the gallery where I'm a member goes back and forth a couple of times a year because her daughter lives there. Her daughter has been living there for more than 10 years and is reasonably happy with her situation. DD, being an American princess, may not find it quite so much to her liking.

I can't believe we're on the 13th page of this thread. Anyone want to do a synopsis?

I thought there was usually one on the first page.
Anyway, TL;DR: everyone's transferring, except maybe you.

Twins Janae and Janeen Camp, who had previously committed to play at Old Dominion (and seemingly didn't even take time to talk to Nikki McCray-Penson before decommitting) will play at Coastal Carolina this year.

Since they signed last November wouldn't they have to wait till next season (18/19) to play?

From the article it looked like they signed because of the coach. When the coach left the appeal of ODU left too.

Like FSU, North Dakota received permission from one of the two Sioux Communities and not the other. This created a lot of discord within and between those two communities. Additionally, the legislature became involved first by sending a delegation to Indianapolis to NCAA headquarters to appeal which failed, and the. By trying to am be the state constitution to state the Fighting Sioux be named the schools mascot. This failed to get the popular appeal necessary.
After having been drawn out for almost two decades, the University settled on Fighting Hawks. But the whole thing was a flustercluck for the school, the legislature, the state, the tribal governments and the NCAA.

Colgate first was tagged with the nickname of "Red Raiders" by a journalist back in 1932 when the then-national-champion football team arrived at a game wearing brand new maroon uniforms. Originally there was no association with Native Americans, although in subsequent decades a logo with Indian headdress, etc appeared.
In the '70's, this all became unacceptable, so the school eliminated all the logo stuff, opting just for a large "C." Then they attempted to deflect any lingering memory of the Indian image by trying to convert the Red Raider association to a pirate throughout the 80's. This was doomed to failure after they unveiled the new mascot during hockey season, at which time it was discovered that the fluorescent lighting in the rink turned his red costume into Pepto-Bismol fuchsia and predictably provoked the name of "Pink Pirate" among fans, especially those of opposing teams. Finally the school's Board of Trustees changed the name simply to "Raiders."

Central Michigan University Chippewas

Serious consideration was given to dropping the nickname Chippewas after it was recommended by the Michigan Civil Rights Commission.
On March 1, 1989, an advisory committee to the president recommended retaining the name under certain conditions. Those conditions included developing educational programs in conjunction with the local Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Council, sessions to familiarize CMU students and staff with traditional Native American culture, dropping the two official CMU Native American logos (a Native American profile and a spearpoint with a feather inside a block "C"), eliminating Native American drumbeats by pep bands and other measures. |

Note that they didn't go where the coach did (UNCW). Some of the other recruits and transfers dd. But perhaps there wasn't enough room.

Just an update on the Rellah Boothe discussion . She officially has made it to UT Austin and will be a longhorn. There were rumors of her having to take the juco route for grades but she seems to be the least of the worries down in austin at this moment.

Fresno State's Bego Faz Davalos is now a graduate student at Duke.
Along with Lexie Brown and Rebecca Greenwell, Davalos kicked off her Fuqua School of Business academic calendar Monday, July 17. The Blue Devils had their first day of class in the Master of Management Studies (MMS) Foundations of Business one year program.
Both Brown and Greenwell received their Duke degrees this past May as Brown obtained a sociology degree and Greenwell collected a psychology degree. The duo also graduated with a markets and management certificates. Davalos received a business administration marketing degree from Fresno State in May.
The reigning two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, Davalos is coming off averaging 14.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals as a junior. She ranked third nationally in blocks per game average and seventh in rebounding.

Penn State in trouble. Teniya Page of Penn State suffered an fracture/dislocation to her right ankle during an intrasquad game. If this is anything serious it could be a huge blow for the Nittany Lions.

Former K-State G Anna Hammaker has surfaced at Lipscomb. I'm really surprised! I thought she was done with basketball due to recurring knee injuries. I guess not.

Ball State adds 2 transfers: 6'3 F/C Zayn Dornstauder (San Francisco) and Keri Kleist, also a 6'3 F/C (CSU-Bakersfield). Kleist, out of Cincinnati, was given a 6th year of eligibility by the NCAA after injuries forced her to miss 2 full seasons and will be eligible immediately. Dornstauder, who is from Regina,Saskatchewan, will have to sit out this year and then will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Arella Guirantes has settled on Rutgers. A prep McDonalds All American she played her frosh year at Texas Tech and averaged just under 10 points a game. A great pick-up for CViv. The transfer allegedly chose Scarlet Knigkts over the Buckeyes.
