The CAA conference tournament kicks off today...

While I don't have a dog in this fight, I found it interesting that this year's tournament comes with a bit of controversy. Evidently the College of Charleston has been penalized for using improperly-sized basketballs during two of their victories at home this season. The conference has seeded them 10th (instead of 8th) and have negated those two victories. The result is a "4-12" record as opposed to their 6-10 record in the conference.

#9 Hofstra over #8 Towson, 77-66 in the opener.

#7 UNC-W leading #10 College of Charleston 36-30 midway through the 3Q

I'm watching. I'd be there, but The Man can't play hooky from work and it's just no fun going alone.

I swear, this game is painful....there have been about 30 combined TOs, nobody can make their layups...I keep thinking of Casey Stengel and the Mets, "Can't anybody here play this game?" UNCW leads 48-40 with 1:45 left.

UNCW wins it, 49-44. Their reward is to play JMU tomorrow.

W&M currently leading Delaware 36-30 in the 3Q. I'm having to follow on Twitter because I'm working with no TV access.

And W&M takes it, 59-44. Dangit. Next up, JMU vs UNCW.

JMU clobbers UNCW, 52-27, in the third game of the day. UNCW set a conference record for the fewest points scored in a tournament game.

Seems like both teams shot poorly. UNC-W shot 21% and James Madison shot 33%. Precious Hall for JMU was 4-18 (22%) and 0-5 from 3.

They did. I only got to see the last half of the fine quarter, being in transit from work to home. P. Hall spent most of the game on the bench. She hasn't been shooting all that well recently, don't know what's wrong with her...trying too hard, maybe? But the defense, from what I could tell, was stifling. They completely shut down UNCW's Madison Raque, who is a GOOD player (way too good for that sink, IMNSHO)...only 2 points for her. Anyway, they'd better pick it up tonight against Drexel. Can't be shamed in their own house! I'm going to this one.

My first time watching Elon this year.

I can sort of see why they didn't do well against ACC teams, but have done well against a lot of other mid majors. Good wins OOC vs Central Mich and Bucknell, but loss to Green Bay sort of tells you where they are.

Dukes go on 12-2 run to finish off the 3rd quarter and take the lead (and a lot of momentum) into the 4th: 50-47.

Precious Hall taking over now, with 24 points on 10/17 (4/9 from 3). That was a 22-11 quarter for the Dukes.

Hall hit her first shot of the 4th (a LONG 3) and then starts shooting very high difficulty shots and goes 0-6.
