Did they vote on this after Kim's rant on Saturday, because this looks like a tremendous slap at Baylor.

Jones got hurt, you could say Brown could have been POY, but even the great Courtney Paris didn't win POY her freshman year, and she put up some crazy numbers, so not surprised they didn't go with Brown.

Don't know about the timing of votes--it was only released today, tho. I don't really see it like that. Kim was expected to top the conference, and her only loss was to TX (who almost beat 'em the second time). I mean, either one might have deserved it. And maybe, ya, there was some 'effect' there. Who knows?

I personally would have considered Mittie at K-State to have accomplished the more impressive record, given his raw materials.

Kudos to POY McCarty. That kinda surprised me, but it was certainly deserved, too.

From the Texas site:
"Junior point guard Brooke McCarty became the first player in University of Texas women's basketball history to be named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year..."

Pretty cool! And I'm guessing she wasn't expecting it so even cooler!

I have been looking all over the internet to find the results of the Big 12 tournament finals, "All Tourney Player" awards. I saw it at the end of the game, but it was brief, and I couldn't believe it: Tynice M. got MOP, of course, and Teanna Muldrow was the other WVU player. Davis, Brown and Prince were the Baylor players, if I'm remembering correctly. Why Davis over Wallace? And don't they typically honor a few more kids from all the teams? Just puzzling....

I've got a niece who plays in the WVU pep band (and played basketball in HS). I'm sure she was ecstatic about their win over Baylor. She was at the game.

Yea, the good UT teams were basically SWC. By the time the B12 was being formed, Texas Tech was the dominant team in Texas.

Brown's actually a sophomore.

Most of the BU players suffer from the depth of the team. No one had over 28 minutes per game. That's going to limit your numbers. And that drives a lot of what voters go by.
