So, rumors are making the rounds that KT is deciding between LA, DC, and possibly Phoenix and Seattle. It's been rumored that LA can't afford (or rather, doesn't have the cap space) to pay her what she wants, and she's considering taking her talents close to home in DC, or maybe Phoenix/Seattle. She could either take what LA offers to defend the title, go close to her hometown in DC, or team up with other players in PHO/SEA.

LA'll be offering her the max just like everyone else. There are other people you let walk or trade away before you let Toliver leave for nothing.

Lack of cap space has never been an issue for the Sparks

Mopey belongs here in LA. As she goes, the Sparks go.

How do vote for that LA Sparks option?

What is the difference between the $113,500 and the $111,000 offers? The CBA seems to suggest that the lower of the two would apply to a free agent moving teams.

Yes, you can re-sign with your existing team for slightly more than if you move teams. But it's a minimal enough difference that I'd be surprised if it affected anyone's decision much.

Sorry again... it appears that the website or my browser glitched and swapped LA Sparks into question slot. For "LA Sparks" click "somewhere else" and comment Sparks below

So this is the official 'Lil Mopey Watch thread? Laughing

Kristi went from a low of committing a WNBA record 14 T/O's in a single game to becoming one of the most efficient point guards in the league last season. The Lady knows how to seriously improve her game.

The Sparks want to transition her back to her more natural SG position so that young Chelsea Gray can graduate from the PG of the Future role into the PG of the Now.

It would be nice if someone young can step up and take over Alana's defensive specialist role since this will probably be her last go round if she signs as expected. Essence Carson was pretty good defensively but really struggled offensively in the playoffs. It would be nice to see someone (Ana Dabovic?) who can be more consistent offensively sub in more frequently to take advantage of all the attention Candace & Nneka draws. When Ana is good defensively she can be a real pest. However, too often she tends to rack up too many fouls too quickly, and she simply must grow in that capacity to earn more playing time.

I would have really loved to see Marianna Tolo donning the Purple & Gold once more. She is more physical than Jantel & Sandrine and willingly does the dirty work inside.

I like this for the Mystics but also for the balance of the league. They can now atleast compete with teams like the Sparks Lynx Liberty and the Mercury

Just to give an idea how rare this is, I've only found three other instances in which a starter for a championship team left as a free agent before the next season. Le'Coe Willingham started for the Mercury in 2009 then went to Seattle in 2010. Sheri Sam and Kamila Vodichkova both started for the 2004 Storm and played elsewhere in 2005 (Sam in Charlotte, Vodichkova in Phoenix).

She's from that area, and maybe she's feeling the heat from Gray. Whereas the PG situation in DC is in somewhat disarray. I have a feeling Thibault knew about Toliver early on, so he knew it'd be okay to let Hartley go.
